Boys basketball playoffs: Region 1 co-champs Layton, Davis earn top-5 seeds in 6A bracket

No. 4 Layton and No. 5 Davis each hit the top five in the 6A boys basketball state tournament bracket, released by the UHSAA on Saturday morning.
Davis, Layton and No. 12 Syracuse all benefit from first-round byes; Weber High, the No. 16 seed, will host No. 17 Cedar Valley in the bracket’s lone first-round contest.
It’ll be a region rematch for the Darts (15-8, 6-2) and No. 12 Farmington (12-11, 3-5) on Feb. 20 in Kaysville; Layton (16-8, 6-2) hosts No. 13 Lehi, and No. 11 Syracuse (13-9, 5-3) will hit the road for No. 6 Mountain Ridge in the second round.
First and second-round matchups are held Feb. 18-20 at home sites. The quarterfinals through the title game will be played Feb. 25-27 at the University of Utah’s Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City.

First round (Feb. 18): No. 17 Cedar Valley (7-16) at No. 16 Weber (7-16), 7 p.m.
Second round (Feb. 20): No. 12 Farmington (12-11) at No. 5 Davis (15-8), 7 p.m.; No. 13 Lehi (9-13) at No. 4 Layton (16-8), 7 p.m.; No. 11 Syracuse (13-9) at No. 6 Mountain Ridge (16-7), 7 p.m.
