Girls basketball playoffs: Syracuse earns No. 2 seed, region rematch in 6A bracket

Syracuse High's Maylee Anderson, right, secures the basketball as Davis High's Chloe Peery defends in a Region 1 girls basketball game Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, in Kaysville.With its sixth region title, and second consecutive, in tow, Syracuse girls basketball will contest a first-round Region 1 rematch with No. 15 Layton as the No. 2 seed in the 5A state tournament bracket, released by the UHSAA on Saturday morning.
The Titans (17-5, 7-1 Region 1) finished a game higher than No. 8 Davis (15-8, 6-2) for the region crown; The Darts hosts No. 9 American Fork (14-8) in the first round.
Weber High (13-10, 2-6), the No. 13 seed, will travel to No. 4 Mountain Ridge (16-7) in hopes of advancing to the second round.
All first and second-round matchups are held Feb. 17-19 at home sites; All subsequent games will be held Feb. 25-27 at the Jon M. Huntsman Center at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

First round (Feb. 17): No. 13 Weber (13-10) at No. 4 Mountain Ridge (16-7), 7 p.m.; No. 9 American Fork (14-8) at No. 8 Davis (15-8), 7 p.m.; No. 15 Layton (6-14) at No. 2 Syracuse (17-5), 7 p.m.
