OGDEN — What Ogden High’s boys soccer program has accomplished in the last six years is nothing short of remarkable.

In 11 seasons, Tigers coach Todd Scott has never been as grateful for the team in front of him, and he’s uncertain whether he’ll ever lead that tight of a group again. Two perfect 16-0 seasons, 56 consecutive wins and 31 shutouts dating back to Ogden’s last loss on March 5, 2024.

Of course, we’re talking about the squad responsible for Ogden’s third consecutive 3A state title. The Tigers are the 2026 All-Area Boys Soccer Team of the Year.

“They’ve become like family; they are family. Having that many years together makes it so special,” Scott said. “I don’t think I’ll ever have another group like this ever again.”

The ballad of Ogden and Morgan as 3A postseason powers carried into the spring, and both squads found themselves in the title match for a second consecutive season after two very different campaigns.

The Tigers defended their region title once again and produced eight unanswered region wins, including two against the Trojans: a 3-2 road win, and another on penalty kicks at Ogden. Their latest tune included a potential game-saver from longtime Ogden goalkeeper and All-Area Player of the Year Xavier Peregrina.

Jesse Henderson, in two short years, has lifted Morgan off the ground from slow starts to the regular season and now into consecutive title matches with the Tigers. Their latest came with a semifinal win over Ben Lomond, another squad that Ogden’s managed to dominate in recent seasons, including last year’s overtime semifinal thriller.

It’s one of those losses where I think we had our chances to do it and didn’t capitalize,” Henderson said after this latest loss. “(Ogden) did, and that’s the difference in the game… Todd’s awesome, and that rivalry’s going to still be there for years to come.”

Neither rival has taken down Ogden since the Scots hung a 3-1 road win on April 3, 2024. That same season culminated in the Tigers’ first state title since 2005.

Ultimately, 11 Ogden seniors, including statistical leaders Jace Rodriguez (27 goals, 20 assists) and Peregrina (11 shutouts, 162 saves), were able to leave one final mark with their third title. The latest team, comprised of a largely familiar senior class that has been part of Scott’s system for as long as five years, blended well with a batch of high-upside underclassmen for a third title.

Ogden High's Jace Rodriguez (29), Grant Aardema (8), and Eli Robinson (18) celebrate a goal during a 3A boys soccer quarterfinal playoff contest with Manti on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Ogden High School.

Rodriguez, for example, led the squad with 27 goals this spring. The lad behind him, sophomore Zeke Snow, recorded 17 goals in his debut. Moreover, 10 Tigers finished the season averaging 2.0 or more points per match. Guys are entering the room prepared to hit the ground running.

“Every single one of my boys contributed, whether they were a freshman or a senior,” Scott said. “What makes this year stand out is that I had (11) seniors, and I’ve had five or six of them since eighth grade, training with me and coaching them year-round. That’s what makes it so special to me, is having that relationship with them off the pitch.”

Headed for what’s presumably his 12th season, Scott and the Tigers are on the hook to defend an untested 43-game winning streak and a triple crown.

As if there wasn’t a target before, there is an even larger one now.
