Prep baseball playoffs: Layton lands lone home berth among Region 1 qualifiers

Region champion Layton (18-6) received the No. 8 seed and a home berth; Davis (15-10) received the No. 12 seed, and Farmington caught the final at-large bid as the No. 16 seed.
First-round, super regional contests are contested May 13-14 at home sites to whittle the 16-team field to eight. Then, double-elimination bracket play matchups are contested May 18-21 at BYU’s Miller Park.
After the final two teams remain, a best-of-three state championship series is scheduled for May 22-23 at Utah Valley University’s UCCU Ballpark.
In 6A’s 18-team classification, No. 17 Syracuse (4-21) and No. 18 Weber (4-19) did not make the bracket.
