Ben Lomond senior Hadley Chadwick signs with Weber State track and field on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Ben Lomond High School in Ogden.

OGDEN — Ben Lomond’s Hadley Chadwick set two personal records at the Utah state track and field championships earlier this month. A week later, the senior put pen to paper with an offer to join the sprinters squad at Weber State next fall.

Chadwick set a new 3A state record of 12.10 seconds in the 100-meter dash at the Region 12 Championships earlier this month. The now BL alum won the 100 and 200-meter events 15 different times throughout her senior campaign.

With her signing, Chadwick becomes the latest Northern Utah athlete to sign with the Wildcats since Clearfield hurdler-sprinter Lily Weaver last December.

“From the short amount of time that we have recruited her, (Chadwick) seems to be an athlete who will contribute hard work, great energy and dedication to her craft and to the team,” WSU sprinters coach Tawnie Moore-Walton said.

Coaching sprinters and hurdlers full-time since 2024, Moore-Walton is a Fremont alum, former All-American and four-time Big Sky champion.

West Field reaps Region 5 baseball awards

West Field stars Wyatt Penrod and Grady Garrett scooped two of 5A Region 5’s most prestigious postseason awards over the weekend.

As voted by region coaches, Penrod received the Region 5 MVP Award, and Garrett received the Region 5 Offensive Player of the Year Award. Both players were part of the No. 4 Longhorns’ historic playoff run, ending in a double-elimination loss to top-seeded Spanish Fork (the eventual repeat champions) last week at Utah Valley University.

Penrod, West Field’s breakout junior at third base, led the region with 50 RBIs and slashed .535/.605/.970 in his first season back home after two years of prep ball in the Dominican Republic.

Garrett, a senior, wrapped his prep career with 38 RBI, 45 hits and 18 runs during his final season as a Longhorn.

Davis OL commits to Southwestern College

Davis High offensive lineman and 6A heavyweight champion Tomasi Hasson has charted his next path with a commitment to two-year Southwestern College in Chula Vista, California, located just south of greater San Diego.

Hasson, previously committed to Division II Fort Lewis in Colorado, was the anchoring force for a Davis backfield that averaged 4.0 yards per carry and 970 total yards during the 2025 season. Hasson doubled at center and long snapper, and lettered four consecutive seasons for head coach Scott Peery.

Hasson received in-state offers from Southern Utah and Snow College.
