Johns connected with Jahmi Harrison-Bismillah for touchdown passes of 27 and 33 yards on the first two Layton Christian (5-0) drives. Luis Froehlich took a Johns pass 17 yards to the end zone and the Eagles led 20-0 early in the second quarter.

Viewmont responded with a 29-yard touchdown pass and a 7-yard scoring strike to cut the lead to 20-14. With 57 seconds left in the half, Johns connected with Synic Harvey in the flat, and Harvey turned the play into a 54-yard touchdown to give LCA a 27-14 lead at the half.

The second half belonged to the Eagles. Kotoni Kitekeiaho caught a Johns 10-yard scoring strike, then Munroe scored on runs of 8 and 10 yards. Henry Zinnecker’s 10-yard run capped the scoring with 1:14 left in the game.

FREMONT 50, CLEARFIELD 6

PLAIN CITY — Fremont scored three passing touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns and two defensive touchdowns in a big win over Clearfield.

Isaia Fonotisatele opened the Fremont (3-2, 2-0 Region 5) scoring on a 25-yard interception return with 4:37 left in the first quarter. Fonotisatele gave the Silverwolves a 14-0 lead with a 5-yard scoring scamper early in the second quarter.

Micah Salazar cut the lead to 14-6 with a 5-yard run to get Clearfield (2-3, 0-1) on the board with 6:07 left until halftime.

Fremont scored 22 points in the last 2:45 of the first half. Aisa Tuatagaloa added a 10-yard rushing touchdown. Tayvion Noriega returned a fumble 52 yards to paydirt, Cooper Ortgiesen passed for a two-point conversion, and Calvin Cooper tossed a 19-yard scoring strike to Jack Moss. That gave the Silverwolves a 36-6 lead at the break.

Cooper tallied his second touchdown pass on an 11-yarder to Ky Majors early in the third quarter, then Ortgiesen connected with Fonotisatele for a 15-yard touchdown to trigger the mercy rule with 5:26 left in the fourth quarter.

LEHI 28, WEBER 14

PLEASANT VIEW — Weber took an early 7-0 lead but Lehi used two punt return touchdowns to take control.

Carter Payne tossed a 25-yard scoring strike to Creed DeVries to open the scoring for Weber (3-2) with 8:07 left in the first quarter.

Lehi responded with a field goal, a 25-yard touchdown pass, and punt return scores from 51 and 59 yards for a 22-7 lead.

Defensive lineman Ethan McKinney took a tipped pass 77 yards to the house to pull Weber to a 22-14 deficit with 35 seconds left in the first half.

Lehi capped the scoring on a 9-yard rushing touchdown with 8:25 left in the fourth quarter.

AMERICAN FORK 45, LAYTON 0

AMERICAN FORK — Layton (2-3) fell at American Fork in a game that was called due to the mercy rule when the Cavemen scored with 3:32 left in the game.

STANSBURY 52, BEAR RIVER 7

GARLAND — Preston Wilkinson tossed a 9-yard touchdown pass to Rigdon Vonk to pull Bear River (3-2, 1-1 Region 11) to a 7-7 tie with 11 seconds left in the first quarter. Stansbury (4-1, 2-0) responded with six consecutive touchdowns, and then a field goal to trigger the mercy rule with 6:30 left in the fourth quarter.
