For the third time in their season-opening series, the Ogden Raptors found themselves in an early deficit and rallied for a victory.

Saturday’s win over the Grand Junction Jackalopes was the most convincing yet. The Raptors singled the Jackalopes to death (14 of 15 hits) to overcome two early homers from the visitors on the way to a 13-5 victory at Lindquist Field.

Juan Teixeira and second baseman Dakota Conners each totaled three hits and three RBIs for Ogden (4-1), while catcher Landen Barns hit 3 for 4 and scored four times.

Riley Ottesen got the win on the mound, pitching scoreless sixth and seventh innings while striking out three, walking zero and allowing two hits.

Jacob Cruce and Kokko Figueiredo each homered off Ogden starter Pablo Arevalo in the third inning, the latter a three-run shot to put Grand Junction (1-4) up 5-3.

Reese Alexiades got one back with an RBI single in the fifth as a precursor to the five-run sixth that won the game. Conners gave Ogden the lead with a two-RBI, bases-loaded single. Salvatore Gozzo hit his team’s only extra-baser of the night, a two-RBI double, and Teixeira singled him in to give the Raptors a 9-5 lead.

Conners singled in Barns in the seventh and Brian Dansereau singled in two in the eighth, capping 10 unanswered runs for a 13-5 win.

Dan Kubiuk and Adam Scoggins each pitched a scoreless inning to close it for Ogden, combining to strike out three and allowing two hits. Ogden pitchers struck out 12 Jackalopes on the night.

Frank Racioppo took the loss for GJ.

The series concludes at 2 p.m. Sunday.
