Former Ogden pitcher helps Oakland silence Raptors in 3-hitter Friday

Former Ogden Raptors pitcher Dylan Matsuoka helped lead a three-hitter for the Oakland Ballers, who defeated the visiting Raptors 16-1 on Friday at Raimondi Park in Oakland.
Matsuoka threw five innings, allowing one earned run on three hits while striking out seven, while walking zero through five complete. Chris Sargent led off the top of the second inning with a single and scored on a Carter Mize groundout for Ogden’s only run of the night.
Matsuoka threw to one batter in the sixth inning, issuing a leadoff walk to True Fontenot, then turned the ball over to Caleb Franzen.
Franzen threw two innings for Oakland (2-2), and Alec Rodriguez and Zach St. Pierre tossed one each; those three did not allow another hit. The Ballers throwers combined to strike out 11 and walk three.
Damian Stone and Elliott Good each added one hit for Ogden (2-2).
Christian Almanza led the Ballers at the plate, batting 3 for 4 with a home run, two doubles and six RBIs. Davis Drewek, Lou Helmig and Marques Titialii each hit one home run.
Adrian Santa Cruz took the loss for Ogden, surrendering three of the home runs in the first three innings with Oakland taking a 5-1 lead. Shane Gustafson pitched the next 1 2/3 innings for the Raptors and allowed another six runs (five earned).
The two teams play again Saturday night and Sunday afternoon to finish the series.
