Ogden Raptors player Garrett Bevacqua runs to first base in a Pioneer League game Friday, June 12, 2026, at Lindquist Field in Ogden. The Ogden Raptors are winners in 12 of their last 15 contests to stay in contention now more than halfway through the Pioneer Baseball League’s first-half schedule.
Ogden completed a nine-game homestand with a three-game sweep of the RedPocket Mobiles, the PBL’s barnstorming team named after the sponsoring cell phone service provider.
After eking past the now 5-22 Mobiles with a pair of one-run wins to open the series, the Raptors (16-11) uncorked 24 runs in the Thursday finale while ace Nico Saltaformaggio returned to form for a blowout, 24-7 victory.
Ogden’s Sebastian Greico set himself on a path to possible PBL player of the week, living up to his spot as designated hitter in each of the three games. Greico batted 8 for 14 (.571) with four home runs and eight RBIs in the three games.
In Thursday’s 24-7 shellacking, Greico hit 5 for 6 with two homers, two doubles and four RBIs. Colson Lawrence also homered twice and Hank Dodson once as the Raptors smacked 13 extra-base hits to RedPocket’s 12 total hits. Dodson’s was a grand slam in the fourth inning to put the Raptors ahead 14-2.
Saltaformaggio (5-0) leads the PBL with five wins, spreading three runs on 10 hits over eight innings while striking out six, walking zero and leaving the game with a 24-3 lead through eight frames. He’s got a 4.83 ERA and averages 6.8 innings per start.
Greico came through in the clutch the night before, lifting Ogden to a 7-6 win Wednesday with a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Raptors outhit RedPocket 11-5 but needed Greico’s heroics in the end.
Lawrence homered in that game, and also in the Tuesday opener, giving him four homers for the three-game set. Tuesday, Lawrence homered to put Ogden up 10-6 in the fifth and singled in a run for an 11-9 lead in the eighth. The Mobiles tied things up in the ninth, where Ogden walked off with a 12-11 win when Bradley Pelle scored from third on a wild pitch in the bottom of the frame.
Chase Valentine and Garrett Bevacqua each hit two doubles in Tuesday’s win.
With 21 games remaining in the first half, fourth-place Ogden finishes the week with a Friday-through-Thursday series against the third-place Boise Hawks (17-10). Ogden and Boise will square off for three games, take Monday off, then play three more Tuesday through Thursday.
The Raptors next play at home Friday, June 26, to start a seven-game homestand with three games against Great Falls.
Billings (21-5) and Long Beach (21-6) continue to pace the league at the top.
