Ogden Raptors lose touch late in 9-4 loss to Boise in season opener
The Ogden Raptors opened the 2026 season in Boise, Idaho, taking on the Hawks on Tuesday night and losing 9-4 after the home team mounted a five-run eighth inning.
Cole Jordan hit a solo homer in the top of the third to get Ogden on the board for the first time this season.
Trailing 4-1 in the seventh, the Raptors used a bases-loaded walk by Hank Dodson and a Dylan Fesperman single to help tie the game 4-4.
But Ogden would need three pitchers to get through an eighth inning that featured four walks, an error and a hit by pitch. When the carnage was done, Boise led 9-4.
The Raptors had no multi-hit players in the opener. Of Ogden’s seven hits, only Jordan’s homer went for extra bases. Returners Jordan, Carmine Lane and Kyler Stancato each had one hit while newcomers Dodson, Fesperman, Colson Lawrence and Chase Valentine each had one single.
The contest began a six-game road series for the Raptors that goes through Sunday. Road games are streamed at PBLnetwork.com for a subscription fee.
Elsewhere in the Pioneer League, three new clubs made their debuts after Colorado left the league footprint (the teams in Grand Junction, Colorado Springs and Windsor all moved or closed up shop) and California took a sizeable part of the new landscape.
The Long Beach Coast won its debut 10-6 in a road trip to Yuba-Sutter (now called the Freebirds) while the Modesto Roadsters defeated the RedPocket Mobiles 12-1. Modesto is a new club joining the league after that city lost an affiliated minor league team, while RedPocket is a corporate-branded barnstorming team that will play only road games.
Missoula won at Oakland 11-2, Billings topped Idaho Falls 11-8, and Glacier put away Great Falls 14-2.
