Ogden Raptors palyer Cole Jordan rounds third base during a game against the Boise Hawks on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, at Lindquist Field in Ogden.

The Ogden Raptors tallied a 2-4 start to the season after two consecutive Knockout losses to the Boise Hawks, the second coming Sunday afternoon to counteract an incredible late-innings rally to get the final game of the six-game series to the extra round.

Ogden trailed 14-2 after five innings in Sunday’s contest, but the Raptors racked up 13 runs over the final four frames, finally chasing Boise starter Joseph Skapinetz in the sixth inning.

Giuseppe Ferraro-Nahr homered in the fifth and sixth innings for Ogden, the second stacking with a Carmine Lane two-RBI double to help the visitors build a seven-run sixth. Dylan Wilkinson’s two-run homer in the eighth helped close the gap to 14-12.

Boise picked up an important run in the bottom of the eighth. Lane drove in two with a single in the top of the ninth, and Jordan scored on an Efrain Manzo groundout to complete the comeback at 15-15.

But that’s where the game turned against Ogden, as it normally does in the Pioneer League’s version of extra innings. Bountiful High alum Parker DePasquale, a former Raptor, defeated Jordan in the Knockout Round home run derby for the second straight game. Sunday’s tally was 1-0, which followed DePasquale’s 3-2 win over Jordan on Saturday night.

Jordan, an alum of Utah Valley University, deservedly got the nod to compete in Knockout for the Raptors. The utility player slugged four home runs to start the season, one each in the first four contests. Jordan and Ferraro-Nahr are in a group of five players who lead the league with four homers.

The brand-new California club in Modesto, the Roadsters, leads the league at 6-0 after a six-game home series hosting the RedPocket Mobiles, a road-only barnstorming club also new to the Pioneer League this season.

The Glacier Range Riders are 5-1 in second place and the Billings Mustangs 4-2 in third.

Ogden celebrates its home opener at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, hosting the Missoula Paddleheads for the first in a six-game series at Lindquist Field. Tuesday’s opener will feature postgame fireworks.

Starting at $4.32/week.
