(Tyler Tate, Associated Press)PROVO — ESPN’s “College GameDay” is coming to Provo for the top-10 matchup between No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 8 BYU on Oct. 17, ESPN announced Saturday.
College football’s premier pregame show, now in its 40th season, will originate its three-hour live show from BYU’s campus from 7-10 a.m. on Saturday morning. The specific on-campus location will be announced later. College GameDay is available nationally on ESPN, ESPNU, the ESPN App and Disney+.
Next week’s visit marks College GameDay’s second-ever visit to BYU, with the first coming Oct. 24, 2009.
Rece Davis hosts the iconic show alongside analysts Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee and Nick Saban.
The matchup features two of the winningest programs over the past three seasons, with the Cougars at 28-4 since 2024 and the Fighting Irish at 30-4 after both claimed victories this weekend. Both unbeaten in 2026, BYU (5-0) is coming off a 24-10 win over Iowa State Friday night, and Notre Dame (6-0) beat Stanford 58-7 on Saturday.

The two schools have met nine times, with the Irish holding a 7-2 record in the series. Notre Dame won the most recent matchup, winning a Shamrock Series game in Las Vegas 28-20 over the Cougars in 2022.
The Fighting Irish have been to Provo three times, with the last time in 2004 when the Cougars won 20-17 in the season opener.
Kickoff between Notre Dame and BYU is set for primetime at 5:30 p.m. on ABC.
