Weber State guard Koby McEwen (15) dribbles against Eastern Washinton's Rylan Bergersen (11) on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, in Cheney, Wash.

Koby McEwen is the sixth Weber State men’s basketball player selected to play in the 3X3U National Championship, a three-on-three basketball tournament taking place this weekend in conjunction with the Final Four in New Orleans.

The 3X3U event selects players who are done with their college eligibility and creates 16 teams of four players each to compete for a three-on-three championship. Pool play games April 1-2 determine a knockout bracket for April 3. Winning teams earn bags of cash from $1,000 to $10,000 for tournament wins leading up to the final round, with the champion taking home an additional $50,000.

McEwen will join Southern Utah’s John Knight III, Long Beach State’s Colin Slater and UC Irvine’s Collin Welp on the Big Sky/Big West team. McEwen was the Big Sky Newcomer of the Year and averaged 18.2 points per game.

A Weber State player has been chosen to compete in all five 3X3U tournaments since the event began in 2018. Ryan Richardson, Brekkot Chapman, Jerrick Harding, Cody John and Isiah Brown are previous selections.

Games are streamed online via Twitter on the @3X3UHoops page, with later-round Saturday tournament action slated to air on ESPN networks.

Starting at $4.32/week.
