Weber State's Dillon Jones runs the offense against Eastern Washington on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024, in Ogden.

Fourth-year Weber State men’s basketball forward Dillon Jones has been named a finalist for a national award.

Jones is one of 10 finalists for the Julius Erving Award. Administered by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, the Erving Award goes to the top small forward in Division I men’s college basketball. The HOF announced the finalists Wednesday.

Fans can participate in a fan vote for Jones starting Friday, Feb. 2, at www.hoophallawards.com. The winner of the fan vote will count as one vote for the committee in the final selection process. Five finalists will be presented to the committee of Hall of Famers, coaches and media members in March to select the winner.

Jones is the only player in Big Sky men’s basketball history with at least 1,500 points, 1,000 rebounds, 300 assists, and 150 steals in his career.

He is the all-time career leader at WSU in steals. He’s currently third in career rebounding and assists, and ninth in scoring.

Jones has 13 double-doubles this season, fourth-most in the country, and has 51 in his career. This season, he’s averaging 19.3 points, 9.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He’s currently the nation’s No. 2 defensive rebounder by percentage and was No. 1 last season.

He logged his single-game career high with 30 points at Montana last week. He also carries single-game highs of 21 rebounds, nine assists and five steals.

Since Big Sky play began, Jones has averaged 20.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game.

The other finalists are: Jamison Battle (Ohio State), Keion Brooks Jr. (Washington), Tucker DeVries (Drake), Harrison Ingram (North Carolina), David Jones (Memphis), Dalton Knecht (Tennessee), Baylor Scheierman (Creighton), Jaylon Tyson (Cal) and Anton Watson (Gonzaga).

The Wildcats hit the road this week for games Thursday at Northern Arizona and Saturday at Northern Colorado, looking to turn around a stretch of going 1-5 in their last six games.
