Weber State volleyball powers through 3 opponents to open 2025 season

The Wildcats topped UC Irvine 3-1 in a decent test while nearly running Nevada and Southern Utah out of the gym with sweeps.
Weber State next hits the road for two tournaments, first to St. George for a Utah Tech tournament where WSU will play the hosts, Charleston Southern and UC Riverside.
WSU doesn’t play at home again until Sept. 18 against Utah Valley.
WSU 3, NEV 0
Weber State opened the weekend with a 25-13, 25-12, 25-23 win over Nevada on Friday morning.
WSU served eight aces (Ashley Gneiting, Jayda Tupea and Rose Moore each had two) to Nevada’s one, and totaled 10 blocks (Brielle Rueckert had seven block assists). Gneiting and Moore each tallied eight kills. Morgan Pratt and Addison Eastwood each passed 15 assists, and Marly Pratt pitched in 11 digs.
WSU 3, UCI 1
The Anteaters provided WSU’s stiffest competition of the weekend but the Wildcats still cruised to a 25-20, 25-17, 20-25, 25-22 victory Friday night.
Rose Moore tallied a career-high 20 kills and Kaylie Ray pitched in 16. Morgan Pratt totaled 42 assists and 18 digs. Ashley Gneiting added 10 kills and 18 digs. WSU had six aces to UC Irvine’s one.
WSU 3, SUU 0
Weber State flattened Southern Utah on Saturday afternoon, hitting a scorching .452 as a team on the way to a 25-8, 25-16, 25-14 victory.
Ashley Gneiting had 12 kills and Rose Moore 10 to lead WSU in the quick match. Morgan Pratt totaled 30 assists and Moore added 10 digs. WSU served 10 aces to SUU’s four.
