Weber State's Peter Visser, second from right, pushes off the hurdle at the steeplechase water jump during the NCAA West regional track meet Friday, May 29, 2026, in Fayetteville, Ark.

Weber State track and field will have one representative at the NCAA national championship, and he’s a repeat customer.

Senior athlete Peter Visser qualified for nationals in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase for the second straight spring. Visser ran close to his PR at 8:37.57 on Friday in the NCAA West regional hosted in Fayetteville by the University of Arkansas.

That time was 13th-best across three heats but Visser advanced in the top group of 12 by taking second in his heat.

Visser advances to the national championship meet scheduled for June 10-13 at the University of Oregon. He finished 17th at nationals last year, just missing All-American honors.

Charlotte Wilkinson did not advance but put herself atop the school record book in the women’s 800 meters. Wilkinson took 29th at 2:05.75 in the first round of the 800 races, good for a new Weber State record in the event.

Visser was one of six steeplechase competitors for Weber State, and 13 athletes overall, competing at the regional meet, but the only for WSU to qualify for the national championship event.

In the men’s steeplechase, Owen Rogers finished 21st at 8:48.67 and TJ Warnick was 42nd at 9:07.57.

In the women’s steeplechase, Saga Hagelin fell 32 seconds off her season best time, which was fifth in the West, to finish 23rd at 10:29.98. Danielle Brow crossed 37th at 10:50.89, and Audrey Cazier was 45th at 11:09.44.

Ethan Ecker, Big Sky champion in the men’s javelin, threw 208 feet and 8 inches in the regional meet, finishing in 25th place. He and fellow men’s thrower Wyatt Larkins, a hammer competitor, couldn’t muster marks close to their PRs to get near the top of the field.

Ecker was 21 feet short of qualifying; his PR of 232-01 would’ve been 11th place and qualified for nationals. Larkins threw 185-8 in the hammer for 43rd place; his WSU record 219-01 would’ve finished ninth and qualified to advance.

Colby Jenks and Joe Corbridge were the first-ever men’s 800 racers to qualify for regionals out of Weber State; Jenks took 30th at 1:48.53, and Corbridge crossed in 34th place at 1:49.04.

Men’s long jumper Tyler Warnick finished 41st with a top jump of 21 feet, 11 1/2 inches.

In the women’s hammer, Alyssa Hansen Freestone’s best throw went 188 feet and 9 inches, a mark good for 30th place.

Starting at $4.32/week.
