Weber State's Damon Bankston, center, runs the football as Northern Iowa's Corry Thomas Jr. (3) and Edwin Dearman (21) pursue on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.Weber State announced the completion of two football series that will pit the Wildcats against two teams from the Missouri Valley Football Conference and completes WSU’s 2027 schedule.
Weber State has lined up pairs of games against South Dakota State and Northern Iowa over the next three seasons.
South Dakota State, an annual national contender, comes to Ogden in September 2027 to cap a sequence of tough, close-to-home games to open the 2027 season. Weber State hosts Montana, goes to BYU, and hosts SDSU in the first three weeks of next season.
WSU then has a bye before continuing Big Sky play in 2027; because the Big Sky schedule gave WSU a bye on the final week of the season, Weber kept its Week 4 date open and instead lined up a road game at Northern Iowa in the final week.
WSU will travel to South Dakota State in 2028 to return that game, while Northern Iowa comes back to Ogden for the season opener in August 2029.
Weber State hasn’t played South Dakota State since 1976. WSU recently went 2-0 in a series against Northern Iowa, winning at home in 2019 and on the road in 2023.
WSU needs just one more nonconference game for the 2028 and 2029 seasons. In 2028, Lamar comes to Ogden while WSU goes to SDSU. In 2029, Weber hosts Northern Iowa and has a game scheduled at Utah.
Below is the 2027 football schedule. While the opening level of competition is tough, Weber State only travels as far as Pocatello, Idaho, for the first six weeks of the season.
