Happy feet: How keeping shoes on through TSA is impacting travelers at Provo Airport

Provo Airport security manager Donovan Cheff said he’s seen a “significant change” in security lines since the Department of Homeland Security ended its “Shoes-Off” policy for TSA security checkpoints in July. “I would say your average wait time is going to be three to five minutes,” Cheff said. “It’s pretty quick, and keeping shoes on speeds it up by a lot.” Though Provo Airport does not have data to show minute-to-minute improvement since the change, Cheff said the lines during the busiest times of the day have been reduced, and the longest wait time they’ve seen ...
