Codey Quintana holds his art piece featured in the Eccles “Colors of Pride” show.

During your First Friday Art Stroll each month in Ogden, you may find yourself lucky enough to run into a man named Codey Quintana, wearing a satchel full of zines and stickers ready to be handed out, but this month, he’ll be at his own art show at The Bonneville.

Quintana is a digital artist and the creator of the OUNCE zine, a compilation of contributors’ submitted works printed in black and white and folded booklet style. He says, “A zine is really just small independent artists making a magazine about whatever they want.”

Quintana teaches others to create zines of their own at his recurring “OOZE” meet-ups, where he supplies the materials and the space to let attendees create freely.

Along with OUNCE, Quintana operates under the pseudonym “Syncrenicitous” for his personal art, which he describes as having a “’70s, high-texture, warm-color aesthetic.” His work has been featured at local markets and vendor festivals.

His art show on Friday during Ogden’s First Friday Art Stroll will highlight him as an individual artist, but also showcase his passion for the city of Ogden. He plans to bring along local catering and performers for his in-depth display at The Bonneville at 221 25th St. (between Lucky Slice Pizza and Stella’s restaurant) and leave selected works hung for the remainder of the month. Quintana is sure to expose you to a world of creativity, no matter when or where you see him.
