OGDEN — Mental health awareness is going to play into this week’s First Friday Art Stroll.

The Art Stroll, happening from 6-9 p.m. in downtown Ogden, is set to feature three pop-up locations.

According to a press release from Ogden City Arts, Culture & Events, among the temporary exhibits is one at Weber Human Services.

“In (an) effort to promote mental well-being and ignite societal conversations surrounding mental health matters, we are delighted to invite you to Weber Human Services Mental Health Matters art exhibit during Ogden’s First Friday Art Stroll,” the release said. “Weber Human Service’s First Annual Mental Health Matters Art Contest was created to foster diversity and raise awareness for mental well-being. This initiative sought to harness the power of art to nurture diversity, and creativity, encourage self-expression, and shed light on crucial mental health issues that affect our community.”

The release adds that artists of all backgrounds, ages and skill levels were invited to participate.

“Participants were encouraged to embrace various artistic mediums, including painting, drawing, digital art, photography, sculpture, and mixed media to showcase their unique perspectives on mental health experiences. The contest encouraged innovative interpretations that foster empathy, understanding, and acceptance within our diverse society.”

Also included Friday will be a new exhibit titled “Coincidences” at the Dumke Arts Plaza, 445 25th St.

“Weber State University’s Mary Elizabeth Dee Shaw Gallery is bringing a new collaborative exhibition featuring dance, film, and photography to the Dumke Arts Plaza on Oct. 6,” the release said. “Coincidences is an interdisciplinary multimedia project and contemporary movement experience exploring shared isolation, concepts of sensory stimulation and informed trauma that impacts the human experience.”

“Coincidences” will be featured at the art plaza through April 30, 2024. Live performances will occur at 7:30 p.m. Friday and again Nov. 3.
