Rainbow Girls is an Americana trio from the Bay Area.

On July 27, the Rainbow Girls will make a stop at Ogden the Nature Center during a nationwide tour of their latest EP, “Rolling Dumpster Fire” (December 2021).

Self-described as “a gang of sweet angels punching you in the heart,” this Americana trio from the Bay Area also has a brand-new single to share, “Compassion to the Nth Degree,” released in June.

“Rolling Dumpster Fire” consists of seven tracks, five of which were dropped as singles one song at a time in a series of Facebook Live videos. “We wanted to give back to the people who showed up to support us when we weren’t able to play in-person shows,” the Rainbow Girls say, as quoted by Ogden Nature Center.

On the event page, Ogden Nature Center states, “These songs serve as a time capsule for a period when we were all forced to stop, rethink, and in many ways, reshape our entire lives.”

The group of alt-folk singers since 2010 — now consisting of Erin Chapin, Caitlin Gowdey and Venessa May — became part of music history when they headlined the first all-female show at The Fillmore in San Francisco in 2015. They’ve released four full-length albums and have appeared with well-known bands, including The Brothers Comatose, Ani DiFranco and, soon, Fruition.

This summer concert in Ogden with Rainbow Girls, will “find you lounging on a picnic blanket with toes in the grass, sunset in the distance, tapping away to great live music,” says Ogden Nature Center. The show will take place outdoors in the glen behind the visitor’s center.

The event is supported by Joan Evans Ahlf, Mara Brown, The Lovin’ Cup Cafe and Ogden City Arts.

The Ogden Nature Center, located at 966 W. 12th St., is a 152-acre nature preserve and education center open to the public year-round. A trip to the center offers mountain views, fresh air and a relaxing environment.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $12 for children 3-12 years old. Gates open at 6 p.m for the general admission concert on the lawn. Low-rise chairs, picnics, beverages and blankets are welcome. Three different boxed lunches are available with online ticket purchases.
