A sign at a Chevron gas station on Washington Boulevard near 2nd Street in Ogden shows the price for a gallon of gas on Monday, April 6, 2026.The average cost of a gallon of gas dropped 9.1 cents per gallon in Ogden in the last week, according to a GasBuddy survey of 160 stations in the city.
The average was $4.10 per gallon.
The cheapest station surveyed was $3.79 per gallon while the most expensive was $4.29 per gallon.
“Average gasoline prices declined in 48 states over the last week, while diesel prices fell in 46 states, offering a welcome break at pumps, with the national average price of gasoline dipping below the $4 per gallon mark over the weekend,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said in the release.
“However, that relief may prove fleeting. Oil prices surged in Sunday night trading after Iran re-closed the Strait of Hormuz and President Trump signaled further escalation if Tehran does not come to an agreement. With global oil flows remaining at risk, renewed volatility is taking hold, and the continued back-and-forth is making any lasting resolution increasingly fragile. As a result, gasoline prices are likely to rise again in the days ahead, with diesel expected to follow if disruptions persist, and many of the states that exhibit price cycling could see increases in the next 24-48 hours.”
In Layton, the average price fell 5 cents to $4.09 per gallon in a survey of the same 11 stations as last week. The range from cheapest to most expensive was $3.88 to $4.28.
Across Utah, the average was down 6.3 cents per gallon to $4.11 per gallon, while nationally, the average was down 9.4 cents per gallon to $3.97 per gallon.
The national average price of diesel was down 11.7 cents to $5.50 per gallon.
