Mara Brown to step down as Ogden City administrator

In a press release from Ogden City, it was announced that Ogden City Chief Administrative Officer Mara Brown will be concluding her service at the end of the fiscal year.
“Brown’s tenure with Ogden City has been defined by steady leadership, deep institutional knowledge, and a consistent commitment to strengthening how the City serves its residents,” the release said. “Over the course of her career, she served 14 years as Deputy City Attorney, more than two years as Executive Director of Management Services, and the past three years as Chief Administrative Officer.”
The release notes that Brown has had a big impact on the city over her nearly-20 year tenure.
“Throughout those roles, Brown helped guide major city initiatives and improve organizational effectiveness,” the release said. “She provided key legal counsel on policy and employment matters, led efforts to modernize internal operations and budgeting practices, and played a central role in the City’s response and recovery during the COVID-19 pandemic. As CAO, she oversaw citywide operations during a period of significant growth and complexity, helping align departments with strategic priorities, strengthen financial planning, and improve transparency and service delivery.”
Ogden Mayor Ben Nadolski had high praise for Brown.
“What we stepped into required focus, discipline, and a willingness to take on difficult work from Day 1,” he said in the release. “Mara was absolutely critical to that effort. Her leadership helped us bring order to complexity, move key priorities forward, and position Ogden for long-term success. I’m deeply grateful for her partnership and her commitment to this community.
“Mara’s contributions to Ogden City are truly exceptional. Her nearly two decades of service reflect a deep commitment to this community and to public service at its best. While we will greatly miss her, we respect her decision and fully support her as she transitions into this next chapter.”
Brown said she has enjoyed her time serving Ogden.
“Serving Ogden City has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life,” she said in the release. “I am incredibly proud of the work we’ve done together and the progress we’ve made as a community. I am deeply grateful for the talented colleagues, leaders, and residents who make Ogden such a special place, one in which I look forward to continuing to live, serve, and play.”
Mayor Nadolski will be chair of a search committee to find Brown’s replacement. The job is expected to be posted today (Thursday).
