A campaign sign for Rep. Trevor Lee at the on ramp to U.S. 89 South off Oak Hills Drive in Layton has been vandalized.

The word “No” was scrawled on the sign in big black letters and an X was placed through the O in Trevor.

Nearly a dozen campaign signs are featured at the location, but only Lee’s was vandalized.

According to Lee, 22 of his signs have been vandalized. Lee sent photos of a few of them to the Standard-Examiner. Some have similar markings, while others have the word Nazi written on them.

At one location, signs for Karianne Lisonbee, who is running against Blake Moore to represent the 2nd Congressional District, and Jon Atkin, a Davis County sheriff candidate, were also tagged with a black X.

In a statement provided to the Standard-Examiner, Lee said those resorting to vandalizing and destroying his signs “can’t win on the policies” and called “the tolerant left” the “most violent destructive group” in Utah.

“Seeing how many people are justifying and encouraging this behavior is everything wrong with politics,” he said.

Lee, who represents House District 16, is currently engaged in a primary battle against Davis County Commissioner Bob Stevenson.
