Ogden candidates become official as registration period opens up

Chris Stewart.OGDEN — The period for candidates running for Ogden City offices officially opened Thursday.
Open positions include the office of mayor and three Ogden City Council districts — District 2, represented by Richard Hyer, who is running to retain his seat; District 4, represented by Ben Nadolski, who is vacating this seat to run for mayor; and an at-large seat, represented by Luis Lopez, who announced he will not be running for reelection this year.
The following candidates have filed as of mid-afternoon Thursday.
Mayor

Ogden City Council: At-large
- Julez Garcia
Ogden City Council: District 2
- Richard Hyer
Ogden City Council: District 4
- Austin Raymond
- Steven Van Wagoner
Prospective candidates have until June 7 to file.
Primary elections will be held Aug. 15 while the general election is slated for Nov. 7.
