Attorney nominated to 2nd District judgeship in Layton

SALT LAKE CITY — An attorney widely experienced in environmental litigation has been nominated to the 2nd District Court bench in Davis County.

Gov. Spencer Cox’s office on Tuesday announced the selection of Blaine Rawson to the post, which is being vacated by the retirement of longtime Judge David R. Hamilton in Layton.

Among other experience, Rawson has represented energy and natural resource companies in matters related to the federal and state permitting of, and litigation and enforcement actions related to, crude oil and natural gas pipelines, coal-fired power plants and other energy industries, according to the announcement.

Rawson graduated from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah and an associate’s degree from Ricks College.
