Letter: Treehouse Museum expansion is great news

I was happy to read about the upgrade planned for the Treehouse Museum in Ogden. My 4-year-old grandson, Dax, and I have been attending regularly for the past two years. I will be signing us up for our third year soon.

I have taken Dax to many other attractions intended for young kids. However, the Treehouse is definitely his favorite place to go and mine too. The cost is just $50 for both of us for 13 months.

Also, I like knowing I can plan on going to the Treehouse regardless of the weather. I don’t have to guess if it will rain and Dax will be disappointed. Also, I don’t wonder if he will have fun as I know he will. My biggest problem is how to kindly inform him that soon we need to leave.

The attractions are unbelievable and geared for all ages. I enjoy watching the kids in the cafe serve their moms or dads and of course their grandmas. Perhaps because I am a retired school teacher, I enjoy the schoolhouse. However, I notice lots of young kids, especially the boys, playing in the jail.

Dax even enjoys the various craft activities I assumed would be too difficult for his age. I think this is because the helpers, in the craft room, are so kind and friendly to all the kids. They help just enough and are always positive and encouraging.

Speaking of being positive, I would be amiss if I didn’t mention the ParticiPlay. This program provides opportunities for kids that enjoy the theater. I hope this area will be expanded during the upgrade.

I would also like the upgrade to include a space where families can bring their lunch and eat together. The three picnic tables placed on the north side of the building, during the summer, are frequently used.

I have not encountered one employee or volunteer that was not helpful, polite, and aware of how to interact with young kids and the public in general.

I love the Treehouse, and I am very excited about the upgrade.

Thanks to the Elizabeth Stewart Treehouse Museum executives. You are appreciated.
