Prep roundup: Syracuse volleyball outlasts Fremont in 5 sets

PLAIN CITY — Syracuse High volleyball won Tuesday at Fremont by scores of 25-17, 25-15, 23-25, 21-25, 15-8.

Mikelle Neilson led Syracuse (7-0, 4-0 Region 1) with 16 kills and three aces. Hailee Garcia tallied 45 assists and three aces. Tehana Mo’o had three blocks and Kambree Rodriguez amassed 22 digs.

Ayva Cebollero paced Fremont (10-4, 3-1) with 33 assists, 14 digs, seven kills and two aces. Kayley Parrish had four aces, 10 kills, four blocks while Ally Cook added 26 digs.

OGDEN 3, LAYTON CHRISTIAN 0

OGDEN — Ogden swept Layton Christian 25-13, 25-23, 25-21.

Rees Bockwoldt led Ogden (76-7, 3-0 Region 13) with 16 kills and 16 digs. Olivia Blackford tallied two aces and 15 digs while Melissa Collinwood added four blocks and two kills.

Layton Christian (4-1, 2-1) did not report stats.

DAVIS 3, WEBER 0

KAYSVILLE — Davis downed Weber in straight sets: 29-27, 25-22, 26-24.

Aubrey Nielson had 13 kills for Davis (11-9, 3-1 Region 1). Katie Anderton tallied 20 assists while Brinlee Bush and Hannah Cutright each had 13 digs.

Weber (7-12, 0-5) did not report stats.

FARMINGTON 3, LAYTON 1

LAYTON — Farmington won at Layton in straight sets: 25-16, 26-24, 25-16.

Emma Brough led Layton (6-13, 0-4) with eight kills and two blocks. Logan Lindsay served four aces and Mercedes Lopez had 12 assists

LAYTON — Northridge swept Bonneville 25-22, 25-21, 25-13.

Kimi Heslop paced Bonneville (9-11, 0-2) with 18 assists, four digs and one ace. Macy Graybeal had three aces and 17 digs. Kelsie Heslop and Hannah Mickelsen each added six kills while Natalie Wilson tallied two blocks.

RIVERDALE — St. Joseph beat Utah Military in straight sets: 25-17, 25-13, 25-8.

Sarah Snell led St. Joseph (14-2, 4-0 Region 17) with eight kills and 14 assists. Carina Ybaben added eight kills. Katelyn Sumner served 10 aces and added five digs. Lexy Bombela tallied 10 assists.

Utah Military (0-4, 0-4) did not report stats.

CLEARFIELD — Grace Kirby had a goal and two assists as Fremont won at Clearfield.

Ashlyn Gwynn, Olivia Van Orden and Ellie Meyerhoffer netted for Fremont (7-6, 3-6 Region 1).

BONNEVILLE 5, BOX ELDER 1

BRIGHAM CITY — Savana Olsen netted a brace and Bonneville led 2-1 at the half in a region win at Box Elder.

Sadie Beardall had a goal and three assists for Bonneville (11-2, 7-0 Region 5). Rylee Lopaz added one score and one assist. Summer Diamond netted once and Elizabeth Jensen had one assist.

FARMINGTON — Farmington led 1-0 at the half in a region win over Syracuse

Marianne Barber, Sammy Kearns and Olivia Hoover each scored once for Farmington (6-7, 5-5 Region 1). Whitney Avei, Brynlee Austin and Emma Vandemerwe each assisted one goal.

Cortney Cobabe netted for Syracuse (9-5, 6-3) on a Meleah Panter assist.

ST. JOSEPH 6, APA-DRAPER 0

OGDEN — Abby Gough tallied two goals and one assist as St. Joseph blanked American Preparatory Academy-Draper.

Emilia Pinchak, Ellen Rickerd and Cate Schmeling each added one score and one assist for St. Joseph (6-4, 3-3 2A North). Cicily Flores netted once and Aspen Springer had one assist. Kenzie Munson kept the clean sheet for the Jayhawks.

BEN LOMOND 3, SOUTH SUMMIT 0

KAMAS — Ofa Arreguin kept a clean sheet as Ben Lomond won at South Summit (5-8, 1-4 Region 13) on Monday.

Melanie Solis, Avery Beadles and Lindsay Church each scored for Ben Lomond (5-6, 3-2).
