Prep roundup: Talbot’s near-perfect game for Morgan baseball leads day of strong pitching

OGDEN — Camron Talbot hurled a no-hitter with one hit-by-pitch and seven strikeouts, and batted 2 for 3 with two RBIs, as Morgan High baseball bested Ogden 10-0 in six innings Thursday.

Ben Hardin hit a three-run homer for Morgan (17-7, 7-3 Region 13). Beck Sheffield batted 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Benton Palmer hit two singles and drove in one. Luke Bauerle added an RBI single.

Easton Green reached base on the bean ball for Ogden (9-12, 4-6) to disrupt Talbot’s perfect game bid.

WEBER 9, FREMONT 7

PLEASANT VIEW — Tyce Abbott batted 2 for 2 with a double and four RBIs to lead Weber past Fremont.

Ashton Burnett batted 2 for 3 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored for Weber (7-12, 3-6 Region 1). Dax Rhees hit an RBI double. Gage Clark earned the win with eight hits and three strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings.

Max Johnson batted 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs for Fremont (13-6, 6-3). Garet Jones and Jace Hadley each had two hits and one RBI. Tony Marziale doubled.

SOFTBALL

BONNEVILLE 5, NORTHRIDGE 3

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Chandlyr Noble hit an RBI double and earned the win in the circle with four hits and one strikeout in 2 2/3 innings as Bonneville beat Northridge.

Baylee Andreasen batted 2 for 3 and scored two runs for Bonneville (16-2, 10-1 Region 5). Kaylee McAfee hit a double. Shelbee Johnson and Annie Stevenson each had one hit.

Jaden Anderson and Aubrey Solomon each batted 2 for 3 for Northridge (4-11, 3-6). Kassidy Allsman hit an RBI double. Tara Richards drove in one on a sacrifice fly.

BOX ELDER 19, VIEWMONT 4

BOUNTIFUL — Kennadie Blackmer gave up three hits and struck out three in a four-inning win, and was one of three Bees to hit a home run, to lead Box Elder to a big win at Viewmont (6-11, 4-7).

Blackmer, a freshman, hit a three-run big fly for Box Elder (16-4, 8-2 Region 5). Justy Pritchard batted 4 for 4 with a home run and drove in two. Alexis Hales went 2 for 4 with a homer and drove in four. Kellie Malan hit two doubles with four RBIs.

WEBER 9, LAYTON 0

PLEASANT VIEW — Kendall Strasburg pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts while allowing two hits, and hit an RBI double at the plate, as Weber blanked Layton.

Logyn Howell batted 2 for 2 with a double and four RBIs for Weber (8-9, 4-3 Region 1). Olivia Boiswell batted 4 for 4 with a double and two runs scored .Ellie Nelson hit two doubles and drove in one. Hailey Merrill doubled.

Megan Child and Riley Jaques each singled for Layton (2-14, 0-7).

DAVIS 10, SYRACUSE 0

SYRACUSE — Rayleigh Starnes batted 3 for 5 with a double and three RBIs as Davis won at Syracuse.

Serena Roth batted 2 for 4 with a double and pitched a complete game, striking out nine and allowing eight hits, for Davis (12-4, 4-2 Region 1). Lauryn Hall and Jewel Korth each had two hits. Katie Klaumann hit a three-run double.

Jazmine Prathan batted 2 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI for Syracuse (7-8, 2-5). Olivia Harker hit a double and Grace Thomas hit two singles.

ROY 7, CLEARFIELD 2

ROY — Izabel Cline batted 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs as Roy grabbed a region win over Clearfield.

Lorelai Sherrod went 2 for 3 with a double and drove in two for Roy (3-15, 3-8 Region 5). Grace Moran batted 2 for 2. Delaney Jackson hit a two-run single and pitched a complete game with six hits and two strikeouts.

Elizabeth Salazar batted 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI for Clearfield (8-11, 4-6). Addyson Haddock added two hits and Aly Ridge hit an RBI single.

FARMINGTON at FREMONT (PPD)

PLAIN CITY — An Ivee Johnson home run helped Fremont to a 2-1 lead but the game was stopped after 3 1/2 innings due to lightning. No information about the game’s status or potential completion was available Thursday night.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

WEBER 3, LAYTON 0

PLEASANT VIEW — Chris Kidd tallied 16 kills and four blocks, and Jake Ahlmer added 32 assists as Weber (10-10, 3-4 Region 1) swept Layton (1-11, 1-6). Set scores were 25-18, 25-20, 25-13.
