Prep roundup: Box Elder baseball rallies for 12-11 win at Northridge

LAYTON — Tommy Greer batted 3 for 4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs as Box Elder High baseball won at Northridge, scoring six runs in the final two innings to erase an 11-6 deficit to win 12-11 on Tuesday.

Ryan Griffin homered and drove in three for Box Elder (12-12, 7-7 Region 5). Damon Rodriguez batted 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. KJ Argyle went 3 for 5 and drove in two.

Kobe McRoberts batted 3 for 4 with two doubles and one RBI for Northridge (10-12, 5-9). Jory Durrant hit a two-run home run. Tyler Asbury hit 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs. Jace Olsen batted 2 for 4 with a double and drove in two.

FREMONT 12, SYRACUSE 2

PLAIN CITY — Cannon Koford batted 3 for 3 with a triple, a double and two RBIs as Fremont downed Syracuse.

Bodee Goins batted 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Gavin Douglas and Peyton Surrage each hit two doubles for Fremont (23-1, 17-0 Region 1), with Douglas driving in two. Jaxon Larkin went 2 for 2 with two RBIs. Landon Salvesen pitched a five-inning complete game with four hits and 10 strikeouts.

Wyatt Humphrey and Corbin Sholly each hit an RBI single for Syracuse (5-19, 5-12).

WEBER 6, LAYTON 5

PLEASANT VIEW — Weber scored three runs in the sixth to erase a 5-3 deficit.

Dominic Salerno earned the win in 2 2/3 relief innings and batted 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for Weber (12-12, 8-9 Region 1). Ethan Holgate doubled and Jake Lindsay drove in three.

Crew Harrop batted 3 for 4 with a double for Layton (10-14, 7-10). Boston Holyoak batted 2 for 4 and drove in two. Braxton Dalch tripled and had one RBI. Gunner Wolfe and Eli Anderson each doubled.

TAYLORSVILLE def. ROY

TAYLORSVILLE — Taylorsville topped Roy 4-3 and 15-5 on Tuesday.

In the first game, Gavin Barney batted 2 for 3 with a double and Connor Munoz added a double.

In the second game, Roy (11-14, 9-6 Region 2) trailed 11-0 after three innings. Cragun McCloy batted 2 for 3 and drove in two. Teyo Gill hit a double and Eli Manzanares drove in one.

DAVIS 8, CLEARFIELD 5

KAYSVILLE — Max Hunter batted 2 for 3 with three runs scored as Davis beat Clearfield.

Jenson Jacobs hit a double for Davis (12-12, 9-8 Region 1). Easton Baggett and Wally Grant each drove in two. Cory Bridges earned the win with four hits and three strikeouts in six innings.

Dawson Burton batted 3 for 4 Clearfield (5-19, 2-15). Porter Benton drove in two.

BOUNTIFUL 12, BONNEVILLE 2

BOUNTIFUL — Drew Beck batted 3 for 3 with a triple, a double and one RBI to lead Bountiful past Bonneville.

Hank Tippetts batted 3 for 3 with two doubles and drove in two for Bountiful (16-8, 10-4 Region 5). Drew Bowles went 2 for 4 with a triple, a double and one RBI. Cole McSwain pitched a five-inning complete game with four strikeouts.

Enrique Garcia batted 3 for 3 with a double and one RBI for Bonneville (3-18, 0-14).

FARMINGTON 16, DAVIS 1

KAYSVILLE — Delaney Baker gave up one hit in a three-inning game and hit 3 for 3 as Farmington scored 10 runs in the second inning to win at Davis.

Lexi Crowley batted 3 for 3 with a home run, a double and six RBIs for Farmington (15-7, 10-2 Region 1), which finishes second in Region 1. Courtney Christiansen went 3 for 3 with a home run and drove in three. Elle Mortensen batted 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Hadley Eichmeier went 3 for 3. Kate Hansen hit a two-run double.

Sydney Marelli hit a double and scored for Davis (9-13, 3-9). Avery Kartchner drove in Marelli.

LAYTON 13, SYRACUSE 1

SYRACUSE — Averi Orris batted 4 for 4 as Layton beat Syracuse.

Joslyn Purcell batted 3 for 4 with a home run and drove in three for Layton (9-13, 6-6 Region 1). Jazmine Prathan went 3 for 4 with a triple, a double and two RBIs. Alissa Reisbeck hit two doubles and drove in two. Lauren Hansen pitched a five-inning complete game with nine strikeouts and batted 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.

Syracuse (5-18, 1-11) did not report stats.

BOUNTIFUL 2, CLEARFIELD 1

CLEARFIELD — Eva Stoddard pitched a complete-game four-hitter with 12 strikeouts and hit a two-run home run to lead Bountiful (16-5-1) to a nonregion win at Clearfield.

Malissa Turpin batted 2 for 4 for Bountiful (16-5-1).

Riley Rose drove in Miranda Mansfield with a single for Clearfield (4-14). Jenna Lloyd took the hard-luck loss, giving up six hits.

BOYS SOCCER

NORTHRIDGE def. BOUNTIFUL (PK)

LAYTON — After ending regulation and two sessions of extra time tied 1-1, Northridge (9-5, 6-4 Region 5) outshot Bountiful (3-12, 3-7) on penalty kicks 3-1 for the win late Monday. The result forces the Knights into a three-way tie with Viewmont and Bonneville for the Region 5 title.

6A TOURNAMENT

WEST VALLEY CITY — Fremont’s Madalyn Hadley tied for seventh with a score of 161 in the 6A finals at Stonebridge Golf Course. Cheyenne Hansen from Davis shot a 162 for ninth and Weber’s Remi Rawlings tied for 10th at 164. Berlin Long of Lone Peak shot a 144 for medalist honors.

Lone Peak took the championship at 624. Davis finished fourth with a 687 score. Fremont shot 705 for fifth while Farmington and Weber tied for seventh at 742.

5A TOURNAMENT

SANDY — Bountiful shot an 800 and finished eighth in the 5A state finals at River Oaks Golf Course.

Adri Summerhays from Viewmont tied for 11th with a 174. Bonneville’s Kylie Johnson shot a 189 to tie for 24th and Holland Staker led Bountiful with a 196 at 34th place.
