WEST VALLEY CITY — Roy High football scored 35 unanswered points to pull into a tie for second place in Region 2 with Granger (5-3, 4-1 Region 2) in a 35-6 win Thursday night on the Lancers’ home field.

Dru Gardner found DaVon Harvey on a 38-yard touchdown pass with 8 seconds left in the first quarter to give Roy (6-3, 4-1) a 7-6 lead, and the rout was on.

Robert Young scored on a 2-yard run, then hauled in a 19-yard Gardner scoring strike, and the Royals led 21-6 at the half.

DaeQwan Snider scored on a 17-yard run in the third quarter, then capped the scoring with 10:16 left in the game with another 17-yard touchdown run.

FARMINGTON 41, FREMONT 28

FARMINGTON — Farmington led 28-7 at the half and held off a Fremont rally for a region win.

Easton Wight threw five touchdown passes for Farmington (8-1, 4-1 Region 1). Dayton Runyan caught two scoring strikes while Adam Stucki, Mitch Nielsen and Dominic Coats each caught one. Travis Hoopes added a 26-yard scoring run to help turn back a Fremont rally, putting Farmington up 35-21 in the fourth.

Ridge Whitney returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown to tie the game 7-7 in the first quarter for Fremont (2-7, 2-3). Slade Parker and Brant Koford scored 1-yard TD runs early in the fourth quarter to cut Fremont’s deficit to 28-21. Slade Parker threw a 2-yard scoring pass to Brigg Grange to cap the scoring.

MORGAN 49, OGDEN 3

MORGAN — Nick Despain ran for two touchdowns and passed for five as Morgan remained undefeated by grabbing a big homecoming win over Ogden.

Despain opened the scoring for Morgan (9-0, 4-0 3A North) on a 42-yard run with 8:18 left in the first quarter. Josh Criddle hauled in a 22-yard Despain pass and Gavin Turner caughe a 3-yard touchdown to put the Trojans up 21-0 after one quarter.

Despain scored on a 14-yard run, found Lincoln Gilson for a 14-yard scoring strike, and hit Brogan Garrett on a 29-yard pitch-and-catch, and Morgan led 42-0 at the half. Despain connected with Christian Nunez from 43 yards out to cap the scoring with 8:09 left in the game.

Max Wilson got Ogden (2-6, 1-3) on the board with a 29-yard field goal at the 1:40 mark of the third quarter.

The Trojans tallied 387 yards of total offense, while holding the Tigers to 1 of 11 on third down, 17 rushing yards and 95 yards total.

BRIGHTON 55, CLEARFIELD 14

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — Peyton Hoover tossed a 70-yard touchdown pass to Trace Hansen in the third quarter and Christian Gilbert connected with Jaxon Ogden for a 73-yard scoring strike in the fourth, but it was too little and too late as Clearfield (0-9) trailed 55-0 at the half in a loss at Brighton.

JUAN DIEGO 48, BEN LOMOND 21

OGDEN — Ben Lomond led 7-0 in the first quarter and tied the game 14-14 in the second, but couldn’t keep up with the Juan Diego rushing attack in a home loss.

Braedon Gill returned a fumble 45 yards to give Ben Lomond (3-6, 0-4 3A North) an early lead. The Scots tied the game on a Jaxon Watson 5-yard run with 11:36 left in the first half, but JD added two more touchdowns to lead 27-14 at the break.

BL’s Manase Tuatagaloa scored on a 3-yard scamper to make the score 34-21 with 11:51 left in the game.
