Prep roundup: 3 Ogden soccer players score 2 goals each; Bonneville softball run-rules Viewmont

KAMAS — Brigham Aardema, Gerardo Esquivel and Luis Velasco each scored two goals to lead Ogden High boys soccer to a 7-0 win at South Summit on Thursday. It was the Tigers’ fifth straight and keeps them a game ahead of Morgan in the Region 13 standings.

Jace Rodriguez assisted four goals for Ogden (8-1, 5-0 Region 13), Ben Points had two assists and Ty Robinson scored one goal. Hunter Paskins kept the shutout in goal.

MORGAN 6, GRANTSVILLE 1

GRANTSVILLE — Morgan scored five goals in a 28-minute span on both sides of halftime to put away Grantsville. Anders Barney scored twice for Morgan (8-3, 5-1 Region 13).

Cooper Castro, Rory Williams, Ty Warner and Beau Johnson scored one goal each.

Owen Tolman, Marko Kononenko, Parker Stephenson, Nate Wallace and Brandon Algaier assisted one goal each.

ST. JOSEPH 8, APA-WEST VALLEY 0

WEST VALLEY — Daniel Fontes netted four goals to lead St. Joseph to a region win at APA-West Valley.

Carlos Garcia added three goals and one assist St. Joseph (8-0, 4-0 2A North). Matt Gough assisted four scores.

APA-DRAPER 10, UTAH MILITARY 2

DRAPER — Juan Montero and Trevor Alexander each scored one goal as Utah Military (0-6, 0-4 2A North) fell at APA-Draper.

SOFTBALL

BONNEVILLE 19, VIEWMONT 9

BOUNTIFUL — Bonneville scored seven runs in the top of the first inning, Viewmont responded with six runs in the bottom half and the Lakers eventually pulled away for a run-rule win.

Chandlyr Noble pitched 5 2/3 innings in relief for Bonneville (3-3, 1-1 Region 5), allowing two earned runs on eight hits.

Emmaline DeGroot and Stockytn Stevenson homered. Stevenson went 4 for 5 with three RBIs, and DeGroot drove in four runs. Brityn Buchanan drew six walks in six plate appearances. Baylee Andreasen and Aya Larson had three base hits each.

OGDEN 13, AM. LEADERSHIP 2

SPANISH FORK — Ogden scored four runs in the fourth inning then four more in the fifth to trigger the run rule in its first win of the season.

Abby Thompson pitched a two-hitter and struck out three over five innings for the win and batted 2 for 4 with a triple and five RBIs for Ogden (1-3). Jasee Anderson batted 2 for 3 with two runs scored and Izzy Rounkles hit a two-run triple.

BOX ELDER 25, WOODS CROSS 2

WOODS CROSS — Box Elder scored 25 runs on only six hits and 12 walks drawn over three innings for a run-rule win at Woods Cross.

Malena Benson batted 2 for 4 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored for Box Elder (5-2, 2-0 Region 5). Kellie Malan drove in three while Justy Pritchard and Sydney Stokes each drove in two. Malan gave up three hits and struck out three for the win.

FARMINGTON 15, DAVIS 4

KAYSVILLE — Farmington took a 10-0 lead after the top of the fourth in a big bin at Davis.

Courtney Christensen hit a solo home run for Farmington (5-1, 4-0 Region 1). Lexi Crowley batted 3 for 3 with a triple, three runs scored and three RBIs. Madison Kelker allowed three hits and struck out four over 3 1/3 innings in the win.

Ellie Black and Sydney Marrelli each batted 2 for 3 for Davis (5-3, 0-2). Marrelli hit a double and drove in one.

CLEARFIELD 11, GREEN CANYON 8

CLEARFIELD — Clearfield scored eight runs in the second inning to take a 9-3 lead and held off Green Canyon’s residual scoring efforts to break an eight-game losing streak.

Sofie Francis batted 4 for 5 with two doubles and Aly Ridge hit 3 for 5 with three RBIs and a double for Clearfield (2-9).

Eli Salazar went 2 for 3 and Jenna Lloyd had two RBIs, a double and pitched the first six innings.

WEST 15, ROY 5

SALT LAKE CITY — Roy allowed six runs in the fifth inning to trigger the run rule in a region loss at West.

Lauren Ashby batted 2 for 2 with a home run, two RBIS and two runs scored for Roy (2-9, 1-5 Region 1). Addie Gibby had two hits.

BASEBALL

CLEARFIELD 15, NORTHRIDGE 8

LAYTON — Clearfield scored 10 runs across the fifth and sixth innings to turn a 6-5 deficit into a road win at Northridge.

Cody Brockman batted 2 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs for Clearfield (2-8). Porter Benton batted 4 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Hudson Meyer and Jaret Lloyd combined for six hits and five RBIs.

Jon Olson hit a triple and a double and drove in three for Northridge (2-6). Bentley Whitear and Boston Wright each added two hits. Tytan Redd drove in two.
