Prep roundup: Bonneville soccer wins in extra time; Fremont baseball tops Weber 21-11

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Dennin Anderson scored on an assist from Sam Richards in the eighth minute of extra time to send Bonneville High boys soccer to a 1-0 region win over Viewmont on Friday.

Karson Vanderhoof got the clean sheet in goal for Bonneville (3-6, 3-3 Region 5).

WEBER 2, LAYTON 0

PLEASANT VIEW — Calvin Langston and Tyson Beus each scored in the second half to lead Weber past Layton (4-6, 3-6 Region 1).

Mason Pocus kept the clean sheet in goal for Weber (4-5, 4-4 Region 1). Oscar Hellstrand and Danny Jenkins each tallied an assist.

ROY 1, GRANGER 0

ROY — Bronson Belnap scored a second-half goal in Roy’s home region win.

Aiden Hart and Xander Allred combined for the shutout in goal for Roy (9-2, 8-1 Region 2).

SOUTH SEVIER 6, UTAH MILITARY 2

MONROE — Dilan Vallejo and Juan Montero scored goals as No. 19 Utah Military Academy’s (1-10) season ended with a road loss in the first round of the 2A state playoffs.

FREMONT 21, WEBER 11

PLEASANT VIEW — Fremont scored 10 runs in the fourth inning to secure a series sweep at Weber.

Logan Penland and Anthony Marziale each hit a home run and combined for seven RBIs for Fremont (15-3, 11-1 Region 1). Calvin Morrow drove in four on a double and a single. Karston Jamison hit 3 for 4 and Bodee Goins went 2 for 5 with three RBIs. Jace Hadley earned the win in 3 2/3 innings.

Ashton Burnett homered, doubled and drove in three runs for Weber (3-13, 2-9 Region 1). Jarett Hill batted 4 for 5 and Tyce Abbott hit 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Gage Clark, Dax Rhees and Ian Carver hit 2 for 4.

ROY 9, KEARNS 5

KEARNS — Wyatt Kline batted 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI as Roy scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning for a comeback win at Kearns.

Justin Miller batted 2 for 4 and drove in two for Roy (9-8, 8-4 Region 2). Tyler Clark, Cameron Baty and Samuel Smith each hit a double. CJ Tingey earned the win with one hit and two strikeouts in three innings of relief.

FARMINGTON 9, DAVIS 8 (10)

FARMINGTON — Farmington scored one run in the bottom of the 10th inning for a walk-off win over Davis.

Cole Williams batted 3 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs for Farmington (8-11, 7-8 Region 1). Beckham Smith went 2 for 3 and drove in two. Jackson Ball hit a double. Matt Hecht earned the win in four innings of relief.

Owen Talbot batted 4 for 6 with a triple and drove in two for Davis (8-10, 8-4 Region 1). Tyson Elkins had three hits including a double and Kaleb Weaver drove in three on two hits.

LAYTON 4, CLEARFIELD 3

LAYTON — Crew Harrop batted 3 for 3 with a double as Layton swept Clearfield.

Bryson Esplin hit 2 for 4 with a stolen base for Layton (10-7, 10-4 Region 1). Brady Nelson pitched 2 1/3 no-hit innings in relief.

Cody Brockman and Logan Fenn batted 2 for 3 for Clearfield (2-16, 0-12 Region 1). Peyton Kotter allowed two earned runs in six innings pitched.

BOX ELDER 12, BONNEVILLE 4

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Landen Golmon struck out 12 batters in six shutout innings to lead Box Elder to a series sweep.

Cooper Stevenson totaled four RBIs for Box Elder (8-6-1, 5-4 Region 5). KJ Argyle batted 2 for 4 with two RBIs, two stolen bases and a double. Ryan Griffin stole three bases.

Bonneville (2-12, 1-8) scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh off of three separate errors and a groundout. Enrique Garcia batted 2 for 3 with a double.

MORGAN 6, SOUTH SUMMIT 5

MORGAN — Morgan scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh for a walk-off win over South Summit.

JJ Compton batted 3 for 4 with a double for Morgan (6-14, 6-5 Region 13). Trevor DeWitt went 2 for 4 and drove in one. Benjamin Harden hit a two-run double. Camron Talbot earned the win in three innings of relief.

PROVIDENCE HALL 17, BEN LOMOND 0

OGDEN — Ben Lomond (1-10) was on the wrong side of a combined no-hitter by two Providence Hall pitchers in a home loss. Three Scots (1-10) batters were hit by pitches for the Scots’ only baserunners.

VIEWMONT 6, NORTHRIDGE 0

LAYTON — Northridge gave up three runs in the first and fifth innings and got swept by Viewmont.

Mason Musgrave batted 2 for 3 for Northridge (4-11, 3-6 Region 5). Jon Olson, Kam Shirreffs and Dawson Auger got the Knights’ other three hits.

SYRACUSE 6, RIDGELINE 3

MILLVILLE — Dom Johnatakis, Dawson Raymond and Calder Millard combined to allow three hits and strike out 12 in Syracuse’s non-region win late Thursday.

Kyson Curtis hit 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Tatum Martin batted 2 for 4 for Syracuse (8-10).

GREEN CANYON 9, BOX ELDER 7

NORTH LOGAN — On Thursday, Box Elder nearly erased a 7-1 deficit in a non-region loss. Mathew Petersen, Tallin Chappell and Damon Rodriguez all batted 2 for 4.

ROY 8, CLEARFIELD 6

CLEARFIELD — Kenzie George, Quincy Johnson, Lauren Ashby and Izzy Cline had two-hit days in Roy’s non-region win. George had two RBIs and a double for Roy (6-12), and Ashby drove in two.

Eli Salazar batted 2 for 3 with a homer, Jenna Lloyd hit 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Sofie Francis pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings for Clearfield (3-16).

GRANTSVILLE 17, MORGAN 2

GRANTSVILLE — Joesi Kelly batted 2 for 2 with a double as Morgan (7-7, 5-3 Region 13) dropped a three-inning region finale.

SNOW CANYON 5, BEAR RIVER 2

GARLAND — Aubree Fry batted 2 for 4 and Kya Towne hit a triple in Bear River’s (13-4) non-region loss. Kate Dahle allowed three earned runs in seven innings pitched with seven strikeouts and four walks.
