Prep basketball roundup: Weber, Layton boys each add yet another win

LAYTON — Current Standard Star Malachi Spencer scored a game-high 21 points to lead Weber High boys basketball to a 72-56 win Tuesday night at Northridge.

Hunter Schenck hit four 3-pointers for his 12 points. Will Stratford added 11 points for Weber (8-1).

Josh Kitchen led Northridge (1-7) with 16 points. Bentley Whitear scored 13 points with three 3-pointers and Peyton Perkins added 10 points.

LAYTON 80, WESTLAKE 71

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Five Lancers scored in double figures as Layton stayed perfect with a win at Westlake.

Mekhi Martin led Layton (8-0) with 19 points and three 3-pointers. KJ Miller scored 17 points with three treys. Sam Romer added 13 points. Jonah Fullmer tallied 12 points with two 3-pointers and Josh Checketts added 10 points.

MORGAN 83, APA-WV 57

MORGAN — ‬Kolton Asay led all scorers with 25 points as Morgan downed American Preparatory Academy-West Valley.

Bracken Saunders added 18 points for Morgan (3-7). Jake Hansen tallied 17 points and Mason Williams hauled in 10 rebounds.

AMERICAN LEADERSHIP 58, ST. JOSEPH 48

SPANISH FORK — St. Joseph trailed American Leadership Academy 23-19 at the half in a loss at American Leadership Academy.

Gavin Donovan led St. Joseph (1-5) with four 3-pointers. Mikey McCrea added 13 points with three treys. Gunner Windsor tallied 12 points on four 3-pointers.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

ROY 49, OGDEN 35

ROY — Roy outscored Ogden 16-0 in the first quarter, then survived a 22-10 Tiger advantage in the fourth quarter for a home win.

Jerzee Hart led Roy (3-5) with eight points. Analeise Maharaj added seven points while Ellie Speredon and Jazzi Prieto each scored six.

Ruth Larsen led all scorers with 10 points for Ogden (3-8). Izzy Nestel scored seven points with two 3-pointers.

LAYTON 60, CYPRUS 51

LAYTON — Layton trailed 5-2 after one quarter, then went on to claim a home win over Cyprus.

Oakley Homer led Layton (5-5) with 17 points and three 3-pointers. Katlynn Spendlove added 13 points. Avery Potter and Conley Santizo tallied 10 points apiece.

BEN LOMOND 32, GUNNISON VALLEY 25

GUNNISON — Ben Lomond outscored Gunnison Valley 11-2 in the third quarter to take control in a road win.

Ofa Arrequin led Ben Lomond (5-5) with eight points. Anahi Flores tallied seven points and Jazzy Tinajero added six.

GREEN CANYON 45, FREMONT 44 (OT)

NORTH LOGAN — Fremont was outscored 14-6 in the fourth quarter, then 9-8 in overtime in a loss at Green Canyon.

Kale Brian led Fremont (5-4) with 11 points on two 3-pointers. Ama Herrick added nine points and two treys.

TAYLORSVILLE 46, FARMINGTON 39

FARMINGTON — Farmington led 12-8 after one quarter but was outscored 15-6 in the second stanza in a home loss to Taylorsville.

Brynn Ryan led Farmington (0-8) with 23 points and three 3-pointers. Breklyn Archibald added five points.
