Prep basketball roundup: Roy girls race past Granger; Kitchen leads Davis in another win

WEST VALLEY CITY — Granger held Roy High girls basketball to two points in the first quarter but the Royals outscored the Lancers 42-22 the rest of the way for a 44-29 region road win Friday night.

Nicole Williams led Roy (5-13, 5-4 Region 2) with 16 points. Jerzee Hart scored 10 points while Rhylee Beise and Alyea Martinez each added six.

DAVIS 40, WEBER 17

KAYSVILLE — Kendra Kitchen poured in 28 points to lead Davis past Weber in region play.

Kitchen made six field goals and went 16 for 16 from the free-throw line. Aryanna Bull added four points for Davis (16-1, 9-0 Region 1).

Abby Sayer led Weber (5-13, 2-7) with seven points and Allie Clark added four.

FREMONT 57, LAYTON 20

PLAIN CITY — Fremont took a 30-3 lead into halftime in a region win over Layton.

Sierra Eddie led all scorers with 16 points and four 3-pointers for Fremont (13-6, 7-1 Region 1). Aly Coombs scored 14 points and Charli Hunt added 10.

Olivia Hodapp and Charly Stevens each scored four points to lead Layton (2-15, 1-8).

SYRACUSE 55, CLEARFIELD 29

CLEARFIELD — Syracuse ran out to a 15-4 lead after one quarter in a region win at Clearfield.

Avery Sanders scored a game-high 14 points for Syracuse (12-6, 7-2 Region 1). Cortnie Barker added 12 points.

Izzy Wyaskett led Clearfield (8-10, 2-7) with eight points and Brighton Bernards scored six points.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 60, SOUTH SUMMIT 43

KAMAS — Layton Christian led 50-29 after three quarters in a region win at South Summit Thursday night.

Ruzgar Boyle led Layton Christian (12-7, 5-3 Region 13) with 29 points and five 3-pointers. Bianca Silva tallied 14 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals.

DAVIS 57, WEBER 47

KAYSVILLE — Kaden Eggett totaled 22 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 3 of 3 from behind the arc, to lead Davis to a home region win.

Colby Whicker scored 12 points for Davis (12-9, 5-4 Region 1). Zach Fisher scored 11 points and Ike Morgan dished five assists.

Hunter Schenck led Weber (6-12, 3-6) with 19 points, five assists and three steals. Griffyn Doughty scored 10 points.

ROY 71, GRANGER 44

WEST VALLEY CITY — Roy led 40-22 at halftime on the way to a dominant road win.

Elijah Sowards had 28 points and seven rebounds on 13-of-18 shooting for Roy (11-9, 6-3 Region 2). Bronson Belnap totaled nine points, seven assists, six rebounds and four steals. Beau Belnap added six points and eight assists. The Royals shot 21 of 37 on two-pointers.

SYRACUSE 56, CLEARFIELD 43

CLEARFIELD — Brevin Hamblin tallied another double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds as Syracuse won at Clearfield.

Kaden Ericksen led Syracuse (12-5, 5-3 Region 1) with 17 points and Carter Semrow scored nine.

Austin Mitchell led Clearfield (6-12, 0-9) with 11 points and Lincoln Church had 10.

BOUNTIFUL 64, VIEWMONT 55

BOUNTIFUL — Bountiful knocked down 10 3-pointers to take care of intracity rival Viewmont.

Carson Smith led Bountiful (8-10, 3-3 Region 5) with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Sam Stevenson totaled 12 points, six assists and five steals. Tanner Crane shot 4 of 4 from deep for 12 points.

Scott Noel had 12 points and eight rebounds to pace Viewmont (6-13, 1-5). Zach Robison scored 10 points.

WOODS CROSS 55, BOX ELDER 49

WOODS CROSS — All five Woods Cross starters scored in double figures as the Wildcats beat Box Elder.

Alex Brey led Woods Cross (15-3, 6-0 Region 5) with 14 points. Will Campbell scored 11 with three 3-pointers. Jaxon Smith, Cade Eberhardt and Mason Bendinger each tallied 10 points. No bench players scored for the Wildcats.

Maxwell Isaacson led Box Elder (11-5, 4-2) with 15 points. Elijah Kersey scored 11 points while Jackson McKee and Gabe Sever each tallied 10.

ST. JOSEPH 55, WATERFORD 53

OGDEN — St. Joseph forced a missed shot at the end to survive a close game in a region win over Waterford.

Gideon Burnham led St. Joseph (7-12, 3-5 Region 17) with 15 points. Tyler Arroyo scored 12 points with two 3-pointers. Gavin Wolf hit three treys for nine points.

‬LAYTON CHRISTIAN 63, JUAN DIEGO 60

LAYTON — Layton Christian trailed 28-25 at the half, then took the lead for good with a 25-17 third quarter advantage in a home win over Juan Diego.

Otavio Armani led Layton Christian (15-8) with 17 points. Tyrese Lacey added 16 points with four 3-pointers. Tyrin Jones scored nine points.
