Prep basketball roundup: Schenck scores 35 for Weber boys; Syracuse girls 7-0 in Region 1

PLEASANT VIEW — Hunter Schenck poured in 35 points with three 3-pointers to lead Weber High boys basketball past Syracuse in a 62-50 region decision Tuesday night.

Malachi Spencer netted 13 points for Weber (14-6, 4-3 Region 1). Jordan Oberholtzer tallied 10 points. The Warriors shot 18 of 26 from the foul line.

Terik Hamblin paced Syracuse at (7-13, 0-7) with 15 points. Beckham Rees scored 14 points and Josh Godfrey added six.

FREMONT 67, FARMINGTON 55

PLAIN CITY — Fremont outscored Farmington 35-18 in the second half to turn a 37-32 halftime deficit into a region win.

Tyler Allen hit six 3-pointers for 22 points to lead Fremont (11-9, 3-4 Region 1). Easton Duft added 13 points and Dylan Bruce netted eight points.

Braden Larsen led Farmington (11-8, 2-5) with 18 points and four 3-pointers. Paul Beattie tallied 13 points and Ethan Atkinson netted 10 points and two treys.

APA-DRAPER 54, ST. JOSEPH 52

OGDEN — St. Joseph trailed 17-14 at the half in a close loss to American Preparatory Academy-Draper.

Gavin Donovan scored a game-high 23 points with three 3-pointers for St. Joseph (2-13, 0-9 Region 17). Declan Yarosik tallied nine points and Nic Morales added seven.

SYRACUSE 54, WEBER 32

PLEASANT VIEW — Syracuse led 20-3 after one quarter in a region win at Weber.

Cortnie Barker scored a game-high 16 points for Syracuse (17-3, 7-0 Region 1). Ariah Peterson netted 15 points and three 3-pointers. Olivia Sorenson added nine points.

Abby Sayer paced Weber (6-14, 1-6) with eight points and one 3-pointer. Rylee Jugler added seven points. Avery Shupe scored six points.

OGDEN 53, UNION 51 (OT)

OGDEN — Ogden outscored Union 32-22 in the second half to force overtime, then completed the comeback with a 5-3 advantage in bonus basketball for a region win.

Ruth Larsen scored a game-high 18 points with two 3-pointers for Ogden (7-15, 3-6 Region 13). Salote Tonga added nine points, including the only field goal in overtime. Izzy Nestel scored seven points.

DAVIS 54, LAYTON 29

LAYTON — Kendra Kitchen scored a game-high 16 points to lead Davis to a region win at Layton.

T’Maea Eteuati tallied 12 points with two 3-pointers for Davis (17-1, 6-1 Region 1). Shea Miller netted 11 points and Kate Richards added eight points and two treys.

Oakley Homer led Layton (7-13, 2-51) with 13 points and two 3-pointers. Hadley Collier scored five points.

FREMONT 51, FARMINGTON 19

PLAIN CITY — Fremont held Farmington scoreless in the second quarter and outscored the Phoenix 34-9 after the break in a region win.

Syncere Langston led all scorers with 16 points for Fremont (10-10, 4-3 Region 1). Olivia Surrage tallied nine points. Kale Brian and Abby Christensen each scored six points.

Jazmin Spence paced Farmington (2-15, 1-6) with six points on two 3-pointers. Ava Goff and Katie Myers each scored four points.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 52, SUMMIT ACADEMY 33

LAYTON — Layton Christian won the third quarter 22-6 to pull away for a convincing region win.

Penelope Arroyo hit five 3-pointers to lead Layton Christian (11-10, 5-2 Region 14) with 15 points. Ava Smith scored 10 points and Asmin Tanhan added nine.

RIDGELINE 77, BEAR RIVER 20

GARLAND — Ridgeline outscored Bear River 27-5 in the second quarter.

Shelby Wilkinson led Bear River (6-14, 1-6 Region 11) with nine points. Brooklyn Capener added six points.
