Prep basketball roundup: Box Elder, Bonneville, Northridge boys win to open region play

BOUNTIFUL — Elijah Kersey led all scorers with 21 points as Box Elder High boys basketball opened region play with a 75-72, overtime win Wednesday night at Bountiful (5-4, 0-1 Region 5).

Trevor Wilkinson scored 20 points with five 3-pointers for Box Elder (2-8, 1-0). Max Isaacson added 12 points.

NORTHRIDGE 54, CLEARFIELD 35

LAYTON — Bentley Whitear led all scorers with 15 points and three 3-pointers as Northridge bested Clearfield.

Josh Kitchen added 12 points for Northridge (2-8, 1-0 Region 5). Peyton Perkins and Logan Birt each scored nine points.

Trace Hansen led Clearfield (3-7, 0-1 Region 5) with 10 points. Peyton Kotter scored 10 points.

BONNEVILLE 46, WOODS CROSS 43

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Ben Tesch shot 4 of 4 from the foul line in the final minute to hold off a Woods Cross (1-9, 0-1 Region 5) comeback bid in each teams’ region opener

Nick Sebahar led Bonneville (5-5, 1-0) with 17 points and seven rebounds. Zac Combe, Hayden Ashbridge and Tesch each scored seven points.

DAVIS 67, BINGHAM 58

KAYSVILLE — Zach Fisher had 19 points, five rebounds and two steals to lead Davis to a home win over Bingham.

Ike Morgan scored 15 points with two 3-pointers and had five assists and two steals for Davis (8-3). Coleman Atwater added 12 points with two treys and four assists.

COPPER HILLS 75, SYRACUSE 70 (OT)

WEST JORDAN — Syracuse led 55-44 after three quarters only to see Copper Hills come back to force overtime and complete the comeback in bonus basketball.

Hudson Hess, Terik Hamblin and Josh Godfrey each scored 15 points for Syracuse (6-5). Hess hit three 3-pointers.

SKYRIDGE 74, FREMONT 65

LEHI — Hunter Hansen scored 22 points with two 3-pointers as Fremont lost at Skyridge.

Easton Duft and Tyler Allen each added 14 points for Fremont (8-5), with Allen hitting four treys and Duft two. Ryker Saunders added two 3-pointers and 10 points.

PLEASANT VIEW — Weber outscored Riverton 17-5 in the third quarter to take control in a home win.

Rylee Jugler led Weber (4-8) with 16 points and three 3-pointers. Avery Shupe scored 11 points with two treys and Abby Sayer added nine points. The Warriors made 10 3-pointers and eight 2-point field goals.

BOUNTIFUL 69, BOX ELDER 45

BOUNTIFUL — Box Elder trailed 42-20 at the half in a region loss at Bountiful (7-3, 1-0 Region 5).

Ashlyn Wight led Box Elder (7-3, 0-1) with 11 points. Madi Thurood scored 10 points.

WOODS CROSS 49, BONNEVILLE 38

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Woods Cross (6-4, 1-0 Region 5) outscored Bonneville 16-5 in the first quarter and the Lakers could not recover in their Region 5 opener.

Sidnee Geerdes led Bonneville (4-5, 0-1) with 13‬ points. Tyler Moss added nine points.

VIEWMONT 58, ROY 50

ROY — Roy led 42-40 after three quarters but Viewmont (6-4, 1-0 Region 5) won the fourth frame 18-8 in a region decision.

Jerzee Hart led Roy (4-6, 0-1 Region 5) with 16 points and Ellie Speredon added 15.

‬OGDEN 50, LOGAN 16

LOGAN — Ogden outscored Logan 45-13 after the first quarter in a road win late Tuesday.

Ruth Larsen led all scorers with 12 points for Ogden (4-9). Megan Beus added eight points.

RIDGELINE 73, FREMONT 31

MILLVILLE — Ridgeline outscored Fremont 23-4 in the first quarter and the Silverwolves could get no closer in a loss Tuesday.

Syncere Langston led Fremont (5-6) with seven points. Ava Post hit two 3-pointers for six points.

MALAD-ID 75, BEAR RIVER 39

GARLAND — Bear River trailed 28-21 at the half in a home loss to Malad (Idaho) Tuesday.

Aubree Fry led Bear River (4-7) with 15 points on two 3-pointers and four rebounds. ‬Rebecca Nielsen and Angelie Delgado each scored six points. Shelby Wilkinson hauled in eight rebounds.
