Prep basketball roundup: Davis, Box Elder boys win in final seconds Friday

HERRIMAN — Neither team led by more than five all night and Mountain Ridge rallied with a 13-8 fourth quarter to force overtime, where Davis High boys basketball prevailed 57-56 on a game-winning shot with six seconds left to claim victory Friday night.

Coleman Atwater scored 18 points to lead Davis (9-3). Easton Ralphs totaled 14 points and seven rebounds, while Ike Morgan added three points, nine assists, six rebounds and five steals. Zach Fisher added 14 points.

Tradon Bessinger grabbed five of the Darts’ 15 offensive rebounds, leading Davis to a 24-5 advantage in second-chance points and to a plus-23 margin in field goal attempts. Details on who made the final shot were not provided.

BOX ELDER 50, WOODS CROSS 49

WOODS CROSS — Box Elder scored the game’s final five points, on a 3-pointer by Max Isaacson and a game-winning jumper from Elijah Kersey with 1.8 seconds left, to grab a region win at Woods Cross (1-10, 0-2 Region 5).

Kersey led Box Elder (3-8, 2-0) with 17 points and Isaacson scored 12 points with two treys. Trevor Wilkinson added nine points and two 3-pointers.

NORTHRIDGE 52, ROY 40

ROY — Northridge hit five 3s in a 23-5 second quarter to outdistance Roy.

Bentley Whitear scored 14 points to lead Northridge (2-9, 1-1 Region 5). Josh Kitchen added 12 points and Logan Birt scored 11 on three 3-pointers.

Roy (6-5, 1-1) got 11 points from Bronson Belnap while Colby Frokjer added nine.

LAYTON 61, SKYRIDGE 58

LEHI — Four Lancers scored in double figures, including the debut of Utah signee David Katoa, as Layton held off a Skyridge (5-8) charge to win on the road and move to 12-1 this season.

KJ Miller led Layton with 16 points. Mekhi Martin scored 15 points, Katoa added 14 and Sam Romer pitched in 12.

Layton took a 53-40 lead into the fourth quarter and overcame 24 points from Skyridge’s Jordan Kohler.

SYRACUSE 62, RIDGELINE 58

SYRACUSE — Syracuse outscored Ridgeline 41-26 across the second and third quarters, then held off a comeback bid for a home win.

Terik Hamblin led all scorers with 22 points and two 3-pointers for Syracuse (7-5). Logan Goddard and Skyler Orton each tallied 10 points.

LOGAN 60, WEBER 58

LOGAN — Weber led 38-27 at the half but was outscored 33-20 after the break in a loss at Logan.

Jordan Oberholtzer led Weber (9-3) with 17 points. Malachi Spencer scored 13 points and Hunter Schenck added seven.

NORTHRIDGE 47, ROY 44

ROY — Kaylee Hess scored a game-hih 14 points to lead Northridge to a region win at Roy.

Karlee Mayfield added 11 points for Northridge (6-5, 1-1 Region 5). Sarah Mower hit three 3-pointers for her nine points.

Analeise Maharaj led Roy (4-7, 0-2 Region 5) with 10 points and two 3-pointers. Nicole Williams and Jerzee Hart each added nine points.

WEBER 58, HUNTER 54

PLEASANT VIEW — Weber trailed 38-37 going into the fourth quarter, then outscored Hunter 21-16 in the final frame for a home win.

Avery Shupe led Weber (5-8) with 12 points on four 3-pointers. Allie Clark added 11 points and three treys while Katelyn Poulsen added 10 points and went 4-for-4 from the foul line. The Warriors hit 13 3-pointers on the night.

SYRACUSE 49, SKY VIEW 25

SYRACUSE — Syracuse raced to a 17-2 lead after one quarter and kept the pressure on in a big win over Sky View.

Avery Sanders led Syracuse (9-3) with 18 points and two 3-pointers. Aubri Stoker hitt three treys for nine points.

UTAH MILITARY 34, AMERICAN PREP 24

RIVERDALE — Kendall Prieto led all scorers with 19 points, Giselle Patino scored 11 and Cassie Zollinger added four points as Utah Military Academy (1-6, 1-0 Region 16) earned its first win over American Preparatory Academy-West Valley.

BEAR RIVER 39, UINTAH 27

GARLAND — Angelie Delgado hit six 3-pointers and scored 20 points to lead Bear River past Uintah.

Saydee Peebly scored eight points — all in the first quarter — for Bear River (5-8).

COPPER HILLS 55, FREMONT 37

WEST JORDAN — Olivia Surrage scored 10 points with two 3-pointers as Fremont fell at Copper Hills.

Syncere Langston added eight points for Fremont (5-7) and Ama Herrick tallied six.

HERRIMAN 67, BEAR RIVER 44

GARLAND — Herriman outscored Bear River 13-2 in the second quarter on the way to topping the Bears late Thursday.

Angelie Delgado led Bear River (4-8) with 16 points and three 3-pointers. Aubree Fry added 11 points and two treys.
