Prep basketball roundup: Beattie hits winner with 2.2 left, Farmington beats Fremont

FARMINGTON — Paul Beattie made a mid-range jumper with 2.2 seconds left to lift Farmington High boys basketball to a 63-62 region win Tuesday night over Fremont.

Beattie led Farmington (10-4, 1-1 Region 1) with 23 points. Jayden Haskell scored 12 points with two 3-pointers and Ethan Atkinson added 10 points.

Hunter Hansen led all scorers with 28 points and three 3-pointers for Fremont (8-7, 0-2), scoring all 11 of the Silverwolves’ fourth-quarter points. Easton Duft tallied 15 points and Tyler Allen added 11 points, each making three treys.

WEBER 69, SYRACUSE 49

SYRACUSE — Weber led 33-26 at the half, then outscored Syracuse 21-11 in the third quarter in a region road win.

Malachi Spencer led all scorers with 21 points and two 3-pointers for Weber (12-3, 2-0 Region 1). Hunter Schenck hit five 3-pointers and scored 17 points. Tyler Payne added 13 points with three treys.

Terik Hamblin led Syracuse (7-8, 0-2) with 12 points. Skyler Orton added 11 points and Brad Trejo tallied eight.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

FREMONT 62, FARMINGTON 31

FARMINGTON — Fremont took a 20-3 lead after one quarter in a region win at Farmington.

Abby Christensen led Fremont (7-8, 1-1 Region 1) with 17 points and two 3-pointers. Syncere Langston tallied 13 points.

Morgan Rogers led all scorers with 21 points for Farmington (1-11, 0-2). Libby Anderson added three points.

DAVIS 60, LAYTON 34

KAYSVILLE — Davis led by five after the first quarter, then used a 15-5 second-quarter advantage to take control in a home win over Layton.

Kendra Kitchen scored a game-high 21 points with two 3-pointers Davis (13-0, 2-0 Region 1). T’Maea Eteuati netted nine points and Kate Willard added eight.

Oakley Homer led Layton (5-10, 0-2) with 12 points and one 3-pointer. Katelynn Spendlove added six points and Avery Potter scored five.

SYRACUSE 71, WEBER 33

SYRACUSE — Syracuse outscored Weber 20-9 in the first quarter and 27-4 in the fourth in a region win.

Avery Sanders led all scorers with 20 points and four 3-pointers for Syracuse (11-3, 2-0 Region 1). Maylee Anderson scored 14 points with two treys and Cortnie Barker added 11 points.

Rylee Jugler led Weber (6-9, 1-1) with eight points. Abby Sayer and Katelynn Arbon each scored seven points, with Arbon making two 3-pointers.
