Prep basketball roundup: Ogden boys move into 1st place with home win over South Summit

OGDEN — Stockton Marriott scored 23 points and Ogden High boys basketball took over sole possession of first place in Region 13 with a 67-62 home win over South Summit (18-2, 5-2 Region 13) on Wednesday night.

Marriott scored eight points in a pivotal 23-12 second quarter for Ogden (15-5, 6-1) and scored another eight in the fourth quarter. Jesse Jones added 19 points, and Josh Cochran hit three 3s for nine points. Nyiol Hauet added eight points.

CLEARFIELD 64, BONNEVILLE 49

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Clearfield outscored Bonneville 20-6 in the second quarter to take control in a region road win.

Peyton Kotter scored a game-high 26 points with three 3-pointers for Clearfield (5-13, 2-7 Region 5). Trace Hansen added 12 points and two treys. Chase NcNeill tallied eight points.

Nick Sebahar paced Bonneville (6-12, 2-7 Region 5) with 14 points. Ben Tesch scored 13 points.

MORGAN 55, GRANTSVILLE 50

MORGAN — Morgan used a 6-0 run over the last 57 seconds of game time to turn a 50-49 deficit into a region win over Grantsville.

Kolton Asay and Bracken Saunders each scored 16 points to lead Morgan (11-9, 5-2 Region 13).

UNION 60, BEN LOMOND 56 (OT)

OGDEN — Ben Lomond led 37-32 after three quarters but eventually suffered overtime defeat at home.

Jake East scored 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting to lead Ben Lomond (5-15, 0-7 Region 13), adding eight rebounds. Kai Langston totaled 13 points and 11 rebounds. The Scots shot 1 of 21 from distance in the tight game, with East tallying the lone make.

WOODS CROSS 65, BOX ELDER 58

BRIGHAM CITY — Box Elder was outscored 17-10 in the third quarter in a region loss to Woods Cross (4-14, 3-6 Region 5).

Elijah Kersey led all scorers with 29 points and six 3-pointers for Box Elder (7-11, 6-3). Max Isaacson scored 14 points with three treys and Trevor Wilkinson hit two 3-pointers for six points.

The Bees made 12 3-pointers and 10 two-point field goals.

‬WATERFORD 59, ST. JOSEPH 47

OGDEN — St. Joseph trailed 41-23 at the half in a region loss to Waterford.

Gavin Donovan led St. Joseph (2-11, 0-7 Region 17) with 19 points. Gavin Wolf scored 15 points with three 3-pointers.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

BOX ELDER 47, WOODS CROSS 39

BRIGHAM CITY — Box Elder trailed 14-9 after one quarter, then used a 38-25 advantage the rest of the way to beat Woods Cross (9-9, 4-5 Region 5).

Madi Thurgood and Ashlyn Wight each scored 13 points for Box Elder (13-5, 6-3). Kamri Andersen added eight points.

NORTHRIDGE 52, ROY 41

LAYTON — Kaylee Hess scored 17 of her 21 points to help Northridge to a 27-15 halftime lead against Roy.

Karlee Mayfield added 10 points for Northridge (9-9, 4-5 Region 5) and Sarah Mower scored eight.

Analiese Maharaj led Roy (5-13, 1-8 Region 5) with 14 points, making three 3-pointers. Rihanna Jones chipped in 11 points.

CLEARFIELD 47, BONNEVILLE 38

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Clearfield led 25-13 at the half in a region win at Bonneville.

Izzy Wyaskett led Clearfield (13-4, 6-3 Region 5) with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Ciara De La O and Xiyah Yarbrough each tallied eight points, with De La O hitting two 3-pointers. Yarbrough added nine rebounds. The Falcons totaled 14 steals.

Sidnee Geerdes led Bonneville (4-14, 0-9) with 15 points. Baylee Andreasen scored eight points with two 3-pointers. Tyler Moss added seven points.
