Prep roundup: Layton baseball tops Clearfield in 10 innings

CLEARFIELD — Layton High baseball scored the winning run in the top of the 10th inning to beat Clearfield 7-6 on Wednesday.

Fish Manning batted 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI for Layton (6-1). Isaac Anderson batted 2 for 5 and Talon Hansen hit a single and drove in two. Eli Anderson drew four walks and earned the win with one hit in 3 1/3 innings of relief.

Colt Chambers and Ryan Frei each hit two singles for Clearfield (4-5). Hudson Meyer hit an RBI double.

DAVIS 10, ROY 0

ROY — Max Hunter batted 3 for 4 with three RBIs as Davis won at Roy.

Jaxon Marble batted 2 for 2 and drove in one for Davis (6-0). Owen Talbot hit an RBI double and Kaleb Weaver added a double. Weaver earned the win with two hits and six strikeouts over four innings.

Kaygen Tingey and Nicholas Brierley each got a hit for Roy (1-8).

BONNEVILLE 20, HILLCREST 8

MIDVALE — Parker Sorensen and Andrew Hansen each batted 2 for 3 with a double as Bonneville won in six innings at Hillcrest.

Sorensen had three RBIs and Hansen drove in one for Bonneville (7-3). Jaxon Hymas and Jaygen Noble each added two singles. Hansen earned the win with six hits and seven strikeouts over 3 1/3 innings.

FREMONT 3, PLEASANT GROVE 1

PLEASANT GROVE — Fremont scored three runs in the top of the seventh to win at Pleasant Grove.

Garet Jones, Tyson Grieve and Jace Hadley each hit an RBI single for Fremont (4-3). Anthony Marziale hit a double. Brant Koford got the win with no hits and two strikeouts in two innings of relief.

AMERICAN FORK 5, FREMONT 4

PROVO — American Fork scored in the bottom of the eighth inning for a walk-off win over Fremont on Tuesday at BYU.

Brant Koford batted 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI for Fremont. Anthony Marziale went 2 for 4 with a double and drove in one.

BEAR RIVER 12, MTN CREST 2

GARLAND — Gehrig Marble batted 4 for 4 with a triple, a double and seven RBIs as Bear River beat Mountain Crest in five innings.

Brooks Drollinger hit a solo home run for Bear River (8-3, 4-0 Region 11). Holden Potter went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Michael Sanchez had two hits. Degan Rigby pitched a complete game with two hits and eight strikeouts over five innings.

OGDEN 8, BEN LOMOND 2

OGDEN — Carter Rasmussen batted 2 for 2 with a triple, a double and three RBIs for Ogden in a region win Monday at Ben Lomond.

Kale Adams hit a double for Ogden (7-6, 2-0 Region 13). Kolton Rich hit a two-run single. Will Minkevitch hit an RBI single and earned the win with one hit and seven strikeouts over five innings.

Ben Lomond (0-4, 0-2) did not report stats.

GRANTSVILLE 5, MORGAN 2

MORGAN — Morgan gave up four runs in the second inning in a region loss to Grantsville.

Luke Bauerle batted 2 for 3 with a double for Morgan (6-5, 0-2 Region 13). Ryder Waldron hit a triple and Camron Talbot hit a double. Beck Sheffield hit an RBI single.

GRANTSVILLE 11, MORGAN 1

GRANTSVILLE — Beck Sheffield hit an RBI double to drive in Camron Talbot as Morgan fell Monday at Grantsville.

BONNEVILLE 16, OGDEN 1

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Kaylee McAfee batted 4 for 4 with two triples, two RBIs and three runs scored to lead Bonneville past Ogden in five innings.

Mylee Pedersen went 3 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs for Bonneville (9-1). Morgan Rich doubled twice and walked twice. Ellee Summers and Shelbee Johnson each doubled. Chandlyr Noble pitched a complete game with two hits and three strikeouts.

Abby Thompson hit a double for Ogden (3-4). Aracely DeLeon drove in Thompson with a sacrifice fly.

WEBER 11, LOGAN 1

PLEASANT VIEW — Ellie Nielsen batted 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs to lead Weber past Logan.

Isabella Bird batted 2 for 3 with a double for Weber (2-6). Hailey Merrill went 3 for 3. Moira Tinsley hit an RBI double and Olivia Boswell also doubled. Kendall Strasburg pitched a complete game with two hits and eight strikeouts in six innings.

BOX ELDER 13, GREEN CANYON 0

NORTH LOGAN — Kennadie Blackmer batted 2 for 3 with a double and drove in three as Box Elder blanked Green Canyon.

Justy Prichard and Kailee Hall each hit a two-run double for Box Elder (9-2). Paige Baker and Jenna Marble each added RBI singles. Kellie Malan each pitched a complete game with three hits and seven strikeouts over five innings.

CYPRUS 13, LAYTON 6

LAYTON — Layton led 6-4, then gave up seven runs in the fourth inning at Cyprus.

Freshman Ryleigh Newey batted 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs for Layton (2-5). Riley Jaques hit a solo home run. Elli Trinnaman doubled.

SYRACUSE — Tucker Pattillo kept a clean sheet as Fremont won at Syracuse (3-2, 0-1 Region 1) to open region play.

Kason Kotter and Dylan Bruce each netted in the first half for Fremont (3-2, 1-0). Ryker Saunders tallied one assist.

ROY 3, CLEARFIELD 1

CLEARFIELD — Roy took a 1-0 lead into the break in a region win Tuesday at Clearfield.

David Rangel netted a brace for Roy (3-1, 3-1 Region 5). Boston Risk scored one goal.

Amani Contreras netted for Clearfield (1-3, 1-3).

BONNEVILLE 2, NORTHRIDGE 1

LAYTON — Ashton Duran scored the game-winner in the second half as Bonneville won Tuesday at Northridge.

Pierce Busby scored in the first half on a Danny Vazquez assist for Bonneville (2-2, 2-2 Region 5).

Northridge (1-3, 1-3) did not report stats.

LAYTON def. FARMINGTON

LAYTON — After 100 minutes of scoreless soccer, Layton outshot Farmington (4-1, 0-1 Region 1) 4-3 in penalty kicks for a region win.

Henry Rees kept the clean sheet for Layton (2-1, 1-0).

OGDEN — Ogden swept Granger on Tuesday by scores of 25-14, 26-24, 25-22.

Keen Crowther paced Ogden (6-5) with 13 kills, four digs and two aces. Case Crowther added four digs and two aces. Adam Ballard had eight kills, two digs and one block.

LONE PEAK 3, SYRACUSE 0

SYRACUSE — Syracuse fell in straight sets Tuesday to Lone Peak: 25-19, 28-26, 25-22.

Davis Caldwell led Syracuse (5-6) with 12 kills and two aces. Joshua Godfrey tallied three blocks. Branson Hamblin had 23 digs and Caleb Roskelley dished out 25 assists.
