October is already shaping up to be a big month for Davis High two-way star Bode Sparrow, who ascended to the top of the 247 Sports rankings for the Utah class of 2027 football recruits published Wednesday.

First overall in Utah, Sparrow ranks 73rd nationally and improved to a four-star evaluation by 247Sports to begin the month.

Amid a spangled junior year, Sparrow is the second four-star recruit to come out of Scott Peery’s program this season. Four-star quarterback and Boise State commit Tradon Bessinger currently ranks seventh in the state and 23rd nationally in the class of 2026.

Sparrow leads the state with seven interceptions, and the 6-foot-2, 180-pound star is on track for 700 or more receiving yards with three weeks still to go in the regular season. The Kaysville product has several Power Four offers in the bag from Arizona State, Boise State, BYU, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah and Washington, among others.

Northern Utah now claims the state’s No. 1 football recruit in 2026 and 2027, with Sparrow and Fremont senior athlete Salesi Moa sitting atop their respective recruiting classes. Moa, committed to Tennessee, and Bessinger, the No. 7 prospect in the class of 2026, broke news of their college endeavors earlier this year.

Bessinger, Sparrow and Weber senior running back Dyson Parker, the No. 37 recruit in the 2026 class, all take the same field for a Region 1 regular-season finale at Weber on Oct. 15. The three-star Parker remains uncommitted with offers from UNLV and Graceland.

In the top 30 of the 2026 class, Northridge three-star cornerback Dontae Dyson sits at No. 29 and remains committed to Colorado State. Two-star Fremont senior quarterback Manase Tuatagaloa is also in the recruiting fray at No. 45 with interest from Idaho State, James Madison, Oregon State, Portland State and Southern Virginia.

The 2027 class includes the likes of Corner Canyon’s Diesel Dart, the state’s No. 7 recruit and the younger brother of current New York Giants starting quarterback Jaxson Dart, who prepped at Roy High and Corner Canyon before honing his game at Ole Miss.
