Prep roundup: Fremont softball beats Pleasant Grove, gets to 2nd round

Halli Atmore and Neveah Griffis each had three hits, with Atmore driving in three, for Fremont (15-15). Brooklyn Himelright hit an RBI triple. Kashlytn Reuther got the win with 13 hits and eight earned runs over 6 2/3 innings.
Fremont will travel to face No. 3 Spanish Fork in the best-of-three super regional series, beginning with Game 1 on Thursday.
PLEASANT GROVE 10, FREMONT 6
In Game 2 earlier Monday, Pleasant Grove (7-23) scored three runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good. Himelright batted 3 for 4 with one RBI for Fremont. Jocie Johnson hit an RBI double and Griffis added a double.
MANTI 13, MORGAN 11
SPANISH FORK — No. 4 Manti (11-17) rallied from an 11-6 deficit with seven six-inning runs to eliminate No. 8 Morgan (8-18) in 3A bracket play.
Summer Bangerter batted 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs to lead Morgan at the plate. Joesi Kelly hit 2 for 4 with a double. Manti outhit Morgan 17-14, with seven extra-base hits to Morgan’s two.
CANYON VIEW 13, OGDEN 5
SPANISH FORK — No. 11 Ogden (10-16) outhit No. 5 Canyon View (17-10) by a 9-8 margin but issued seven walks and loss in 3A bracket play elimination game.
Sophia Edwards tripled and drove in two runs for Ogden. Madi Arney hit 2 for 3, and Baelee Ulm and Kassidy Waddell each hit a double. Jill Wood took the tough loss on the mound, issuing the seven walks but allowing only three earned runs out of the 13.

DESERT HILLS 12, BEAR RIVER 6
KEARNS — No. 6 Bear River scored three runs in the first inning, but No. 2 Desert Hills (23-6) scored eight straight runs to take control in a 4A bracket play contest Tuesday at Kearns High School.
Jackson Barfuss batted 3 for 4 with one RBI for Bear River (21-8). Chipper Hawes went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Jaxon Theurer hit a two-run double.
The Bears face No. 7 Crimson Cliffs in an elimination game at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
BEAR RIVER 9, TIMPANOGOS 5
KEARNS — No. 6 Bear River scored five runs in the third inning and added three in the fifth to best No. 3 Timpanogos (23-6) and advance in 4A bracket play at Kearns High School on Monday.
Chipper Hawes hit a three-run home run for Bear River (21-7). Jackson Barfuss batted 3 for 4. Dallen Rice went 2 for 5 with a double and three RBIs. Stephen Starnes and Broxton Gardner each drove in one with a single. Starnes got the win with seven hits, four earned runs and 10 strikeouts over five innings.

Lincoln Miller totaled four goals and two assists for West Field (14-5). Gavin Clarke scored three goals.
Tyler Dickson had two goals and one assist for Roy (5-13).
West Field next hits the road for a second-round matchup at No. 8 Olympus (10-6) on Thursday.

Northridge next travels to No. 3 West Jordan.
