Weber State's Alex Tew (20) and Dillon Jones, right, track a rebound against Northern Colorado's Brock Wisne, center, on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, in Greeley, Colo.

Weber State forward Dillon Jones hauled in another Big Sky Conference player of the week award for his play in WSU’s 2-0 road trip last week. It’s his sixth this season and 14th of his career.

At Northern Arizona, Jones totaled 26 points, eight rebounds and four assists, shooting 10 of 10 at the foul line and scoring 10 points in the final 3:55 to will WSU to a 72-70 win.

Saturday’s game was more complete on both sides for Weber State and Jones totaled 21 points, nine rebounds, five assists, three steals and zero turnovers in an 82-63 victory at Northern Colorado.

Jones moved past Jimmie Watts and Willie Sojourner into seventh place on WSU’s career scoring list with 1,571 points. Already first in steals, he’s six assists from passing Damian Lillard for second place on that career list, and he’s third in career rebounds.

NAU and UNCo were a combined 13-1 at home before playing Weber State, so the Wildcats have hopes the successful road trip will have them back on track as they host Portland State and Sacramento State this week.

After scorching through two Big Sky blowouts and two big road wins to reach 11-4 overall, Weber State’s 71-69 road loss at Sacramento State on Jan. 11 and a 69-66 defeat two days later at Portland State began a six-game string where the Wildcats (14-9, 5-5 Big Sky) went 1-5 and plummeted to eighth in the Big Sky standings.

Now, the Vikings (14-9, 5-5) come to Ogden with the winner taking over fifth in the standings and second place well within reach. PSU completed a four-game homestand Monday with a loss to Eastern Washington, otherwise going 3-1.

Portland State is a difficult out because the Vikings take care of the ball and create turnovers. PSU combined live-ball turnover buckets with hot 3-point shooting to put WSU in a 26-point hole that the Wildcats fell a minute short of climbing out.

Sacramento State (6-17, 2-8) arrives in Ogden on Saturday to complete a stretch of four games in eight days in four different cities. WSU’s road loss to the Hornets has aged poorly, though Sac State has been competitive in most of its league losses.

Both games start at 7 p.m. and stream on ESPN+.
