The Shins to perform in Ogden Twilight concert series, tickets selling fast
OGDEN — The Shins will be heading back to Ogden as part of the Ogden Twilight summer concert series.
They’re to perform Aug. 6, according to a post on the Ogden Twilight Facebook page, filling one of two series spots that had still remained open. The act on the final night of the series, Oct. 1, still hasn’t been announced.
“The Shins are coming back to Ogden Twilight! They were the first artist to ever sell out the Ogden Amphitheater and really helped put this series on the map,” said the Ogden Twilight post.
That sold out Shins show took place at the Ogden Twilight series in 2017, the first of many in the summer series that have filled the Ogden Amphitheater since then. Indeed, organizers say many of the shows in this year’s series, which starts June 21 with a performance by Bleachers, are sold out, including that Bleachers show, the Aug. 9 show featuring The National, the Aug. 25 Beach House show, the Aug. 30 Modest Mouse performance and the Sept. 17 Flume performance.
“Do not snooze on buying tickets. If you missed out on a show try the 24Tix reseller link under each event. If you have tickets and can’t attend a show you can easily list your tickets there,” concert series organizers advise. The bulk of the lineup for 2022 was announced on March 18. Series tickets are being sold at 24tix.com and tickets to The Shins show go on sale Friday.
News that The Shins will return was met with excitement by Ogden Twilight fans. “The (S)hins!!! Seriously so awesome! Can’t wait to see them again,” said one Facebook commenter.
The Shins are an indie rock band from New Mexico. According to Rolling Stone, the Ogden stop will be part of a tour this year by the group that’ll feature their album, “Oh, Inverted World,” which came out in 2001, 21 years ago. The album includes the tracks “New Slang,” “Caring Is Creepy” and “The Past and Pending.”
