Prep basketball roundup: Sanders leads Syracuse girls over Layton, Titans unbeaten in Region 1

LAYTON — Reigning Standard Star athlete Avery Sanders scored a game-high 26 points with four 3-pointers to lead Syracuse High girls basketball to a 62-45 region win Friday at Layton.

Maylee Anderson tallied 10 points for Syracuse (15-3, 6-0 Region 1) and Aubri Stoker scored nine.

Oakley Homer paced Layton (7-12, 2-4) with 18 points and four 3-pointers. Ashlynn Purcell netted eight points and Roxy Casper added seven.

DAVIS 59, FREMONT 46

KAYSVILLE — T’Maea Eteuati scored a game-high 18 points with two 3-pointers to lead Davis past Fremont.

Kate Willard scored 12 points for Davis (16-1, 5-1 Region 1) and Kendra Kitchen added nine.

Abby Christensen led Fremont (9-10, 3-3) with 15 points and three 3-pointers. Ama Herrick scored eight points and Maya Jensen tallied seven.

‬ROY 44, BONNEVILLE 41

ROY — Roy outscored Bonneville 15-12 in the third quarter to break a 13-13 halftime tie and grab a region win.

Ariana Strain led Roy (6-13, 2-8 Region 5) with 10 points and three 3-pointers. Nicole Williams, Jerzee Hart and Rihanna Jones each scored nine points. Williams added seven rebounds and Hard had six boards. Jones added three steals.

Baya Jimenez led Bonneville (4-15, 0-10) with 10 points, six rebounds and two steals. Sidnee Geerdes added 10 points and four rebounds. Whitni Johnson added nine points on three 3-pointers.

FARMINGTON 57, WEBER 33

FARMINGTON — Farmington held Weber to seven points in the first half in a region win.

Jazmin Spence led all scorers with 15 points and two 3-pointers for Farmington (2-14, 1-5 Region 1). Kate Garff tallied 12 points and two treys. Morgan Rogers added 11 points.

Abby Sayer tallied 11 points and two 3-pointers for Weber (6-13, 1-5). Rylee Jugler scored seven points.

CLEARFIELD 38, WOODS CROSS 31

CLEARFIELD — Clearfield jumped out to a 14-5 lead after one quarter in a region win over Woods Cross (9-10, 4-6 Region 5).

Xiyah Yarbrough led Clearfield (14-4, 7-3 Region 5) with 11 points. Izzy Wyaskett tallied 10 points and Ciara De La O added seven.

OGDEN 44, BEN LOMOND 30

OGDEN — Ben Lomond led 23-16 at the half, then Ogden outscored the Scots 20-1 in the third quarter for a region win Thursday.

Lily Gonzales led all scorers with 15 points on five 3-pointers for Ogden (6-15, 2-6 Region 13). Ruth Larsen scored 12 points and Salote Tonga added eight points.

Anayah Gomez led Ben Lomond (6-14, 0-8) with nine points on three 3-pointers. Ivy Gallegos scored six points and Anahi Flores netted four.

SKY VIEW 37, BEAR RIVER 26

GARLAND — Shelby Wilkinson led Bear River (6-13, 1-5 Region 11) with seven points in a region loss to Sky View on Thursday. Madison Littlefield scored six points and Saydee Pebley added five.

OGDEN — Ogden ran out to a 18-6 lead in the first quarter in a region win at Ben Lomond.

Stockton Marriott led Ogden (16-5, 7-1 Region 13) with 22 points and two 3-pointers, Jesse Jones tallied 15 points and Teegan Porter added eight.

Jonathan Alcaraz scored 22 points for Ben Lomond (5-16, 0-8). Jordan Harrison netted eight points and Jake East added seven. Alacaraz and East each grabbed five rebounds.

LAYTON 65, SYRACUSE 60

LAYTON — Layton led 32-17 at the half and held off a Syracuse comeback bid to stay perfect in region play.

Mekhi Martin led all scorers with 18 points and three 3-pointers for Layton (18-1, 6-0 Region 1). David Katoa tallied 16 points and KJ Miller scored 12 points with two treys.

Terik Hamblin led Syracuse (7-12, 0-6) with 17 points. Josh Godfrey scored 12 points and Logan Goddard netted 11 points with two 3-pointers.

WEBER 55, FARMINGTON 46

FARMINGTON — Weber broke a 25-25 halftime tie with a 21-8 third quarter in a region win at Farmington

Hunter Schenck scored a game-high 19 points with three 3-pointers for Weber (13-6, 3-3 Region 1). Malachi Spencer tallied 13 points and Will Stratford notched 10.

Jayden Haskell paced Farmington (11-7, 2-4) with 17 points and two 3-pointers. Paul Beattie scored 15 points with two treys. Ethan Atkinson added seven points.

BONNEVILLE 57, ROY 54

ROY — Bonneville ran out to a 21-11 lead in the first quarter in a region win at Roy.

Hayden Ashbridge paced Bonneville (7-12, 3-7 Region 5) with 16 points and three 3-pointers. Nick Sebahar added 13 points with two treys and Ben Tesch scored 10 points.

Bronson Belnap led all scorers with 22 points for Roy (9-10, 4-6). Corben Schuffenhauer added 17 points with two 3-pointers. Colby Frokjer scored nine points.

VIEWMONT 63, BOX ELDER 47

BOUNTIFUL — Elijah Kersey scored 25 points with three 3-pointers but it wasn’t enough as Box Elder lost at Viewmont (7-12, 6-4 Region 5).

Max Isaacson scored seven points for Box Elder (7-12, 6-4) and Carter Buchanan scored five.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 75, MTN VIEW 60

LAYTON — Tyrin Jones scored a game-high 23 points as Layton Christian beat Mountain View

Otavio Armani and Alan Gballou each scored 15 points for Layton Christian (20-3, 7-1 Region 8). Armani made two 3-pointers. Vuk Zarubica tallied 13 points.

BOUNTIFUL 83, NORTHRIDGE 80 (OT)

LAYTON — Northridge outscored Bountiful (14-5, 8-2 Region 5) 45-30 in the second half to force overtime, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Logan Birt scored a game-high 24 points with four 3-pointers for Northridge (8-11, 7-3). Bentley Whitear added 23 points and two treys. Peyton Perkins netted 13 points.
