Prep basketball roundup: Fremont girls beat Syracuse with huge 4th quarter

SYRACUSE — Syracuse won the third quarter 12-2 to take a 33-30 lead, then Fremont High girls basketball came roaring back with a 21-6 advantage in the final frame for a 51-39, region road win Tuesday night that knocked the Titans out of first place.

Syncere Langston led Fremont (12-10, 6-3 Region 1) with 15 points. Olivia Surrage and Abby Christensen each scored 11 points, with Christensen hitting three 3-pointers and Surrage two. The Silverwolves made eight 3-pointers and eight two-point field goals.

Avery Sanders led all scorers with 19 points and three 3-pointers for Syracuse (16-5, 7-2). Cortnie Barker added 12 points and Olivia Sorensen tallied six.

DAVIS 61, FARMINGTON 25

KAYSVILLE — Kate Richards scored 17 points with two 3-pointers to lead Davis past Farmington and move into first place alone with one game left in Region 1.

T’Maea Eteuati added 12 points and two treys for Davis (19-1, 8-1 Region 1). Kendra Kitchen tallied 11 points and Kate Willard added nine.

Brecklyn Archibald led Farmington (2-18, 1-8) with seven points. Macy Fox added six points.

LAYTON 50, WEBER 31

PLEASANT VIEW — Layton ran out to a 32-7 halftime lead in a region win at Weber.

Oakley Homer led Layton (9-13, 4-5 Region 1) with 17 points and three 3-pointers. Avery Potter added nine points and Roxy Casper scored seven.

Logyn Howell paced Weber (6-16, 1-8) with 12 points on four 3-pointers. Abby Sayer added nine points.

FREMONT 64, SYRACUSE 52

SYRACUSE — Fremont took a 41-40 lead after three quarters then pulled away in the final frame for a region road win.

Hunter Hansen scored a game-high 17 points for Fremont (12-10, 4-5 Region 1). Easton Duft added 15 points with two 3-pointers. Ryker Saunders tallied 14 points with four treys.

Josh Godfrey led Syracuse (7-18, 0-8) with 13 points. Terek Hamblin and Beckham Rees each scored 11 points, with Rees hitting three 3-pointers.

FARMINGTON 62, DAVIS 56

KAYSVILLE — Farmington outscored Davis 20-9 in the second quarter to take control in an upset road win.

Paul Beattie led Farmington (12-9, 3-6 Region 1) with 15 points and five rebounds. Braden Larsen tallied 11 points, six assists and two steals. Ethan Harris added nine points and five rebounds while Ethan Atkinson had nine points and four steals.

Tradon Bessinger scored a game-high 17 points with five 3-pointers for Davis (15-7, 6-3). Coleman Atwater added 16 points with four 3s, dishing five assists. Ike Morgan tallied 11 points while Zach Fisher and JT Turley each had five rebounds.
