OGDEN — The Ogden Raptors lead the Rocky Mountain Vibes 5-4 through three complete innings in a game suspended Wednesday night by rain and lightning.

The game will resume at 4 p.m. today, followed by Thursday’s regularly scheduled game at 7 p.m., both at Lindquist Field.

The Vibes (24-40, 8-10) took leads of 1-0 and 4-2, the latter coming on a two-run double from catcher Luis Navarro in the top of the third.

The Raptors (39-28, 10-9) got solo homers from Matt Warkentin, getting his first start in an Ogden uniform, and Logan Williams in the second inning to go up 2-1. Warkentin sent a towering shot the opposite way to right and, for the second straight night, Williams pushed a fast-exiting liner over the wall in right.

Trailing 4-2, Warkentin drew a walk to load the bases with two outs in the bottom of the third, just as rain began to fall and as umpires took notice of lightning strikes over the mountains to the northeast.

Brian Dansereau ripped a double to the gap, clearing the bases and putting Ogden ahead 5-4. Moments later, managers went back and forth with umpires and the game was put in delay at 8:14 p.m.

By 8:51 p.m., lightning remained to the north and a light but steady rain continued, leading to the decision to suspend the contest.
