Inside the Lines: WWII veteran Ray Wright the latest in Layton High's coin-toss tradition
LAYTON — When 102-year-old World War II veteran Ray Wright was transported to midfield at Lancer Stadium before the football game between Layton and Clearfield earlier this season, he was assisted from a dark blue Kubota utility vehicle by Layton High student body president Tyton Ott. Wright stepped into the circle of Layton and Clearfield captains with the head referee and was given a commemorative coin to flip, to decide the opening possession for the game.
