T he Centers for Disease Control reports findings from a phone survey that of H1N1 patients with asthma who later required hospitalization, half of them did not seek medical attention during the progression of the illness. This prompts the reminder that if H1N1 presents itself and the individual has an underlying health condition it is important to contact a health provider as it could present a higher risk of flu complications.

What should you do if you are sick?

MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- Suzie Schwartz, the wife of Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz, brought her unique perspective to the Maxwell AFB Key Spouse Forum, sharing personal stories, words of encouragement and helpful resources.

The Key Spouse Program is an emphasis area for the Year of Air Force Family, which came into being as a result of the Caring for People Conference, she said. However, the emphasis on families will not stop when the year ends, Schwartz vowed.

"We don't see this as just a year," she said. "We see this as a first push.

"We are all brothers in arms," said Col. Calvin Williams, 75th Air Base Wing vice commander, as he talked about the first daytime dignified transfer for another armed service conducted Oct. 29 at Hill Air Force Base. Private 1st Class Kimble A. Han was killed in Afghanistan after the vehicle he was in was hit by an improvised explosive device and surrounded by insurgents. Han's family who lives near Lehi requested that his remains be sent to Utah. His remains were escorted by a uniformed member of the U.S. Army to Hill Air Force Base.

The 75th Air Base Wing is hosting the Airman's Annual Cookie Drive for 2009 on Dec.16. The event provides baked cookies for Airmen, most of whom cannot be home for the holidays. The cookies are baked by volunteers from around the base who want to help give a bit of holiday cheer to our Airmen.

The 75th ABW needs a sorting-bagging coordinator.

This volunteer position would be responsible for finding volunteers for the day of sorting and bagging, and maintaining that list of the volunteers (approximately 40 people).
